Man, there's nothing wrong with that spoiler. I have one too off of ebay, and it is definitely high quality material being used. The paint job is 99.9% perfect! Mine looks very good indeed! Get one, if you haven't already hit the "buy it now" button!:paranoid:

I got an OEM-replica trunk-lid spoiler-lip from ebay for my '08 Accord sedan for $108/shipped (+ sales-tax, as the vendor was based out of my state).

It's just as good as the OEM-version, same fabrication-process (injection-molded ABS-plastic) & actual OEM color-code paint-match. It comes w/ VHB 3M tape already affixed to it, and also additional hardware (screws/washers/bolts) if you want to fasten to the trunk-lid more robustly.

I am assuming it goes on with either a 3M tape or you can drill it. Rather have the dealership do it, may be a bit pricey but quality does come at a price.

The $108/$110 spoiler-lips & spoiler-wings from ebay for the '08 Accord sedan or coupe come OEM color-matched w/ VHB 3M tape & necessary hardware (bolts/washers/nuts/template) & instructions.

It isn't quite rocket-science to install. Takes less than 5min's if you only use the 3M tape (which is already affixed to the spoiler), or less than 10min's if you decide to use the hardware (recommended for the spoiler-wing).

Feel obliged to give your money to the stealership for a presumed OEM spoiler which will cost 3 to 5 times as much as the replica, and another one-half to one-hour labor charged for the install (avg' labor-rates: $80-$100/hr).

Then again, time is money... depends on which one an individual wants to save!

why do you people always say it looks cheap and etc, they are replicas, as in made with quality materials but not by honda... check the sellers feedback and then comment if its cheap or not. you dont drive a bentley, how good do you want it???

If Osiris says it's OEM quality, I will trust his judgement

would using only the double tape method to install the deck lid spoiler be sufficient or is it better to do the drilling and all that stuff?

you can use 3M VERY HIGH BOND tape, that should do the trick but not sure how much that spoiler weights, i have the decklid spoiler on with high bond tape, but its pretty light so it works

I got mine off of ebay from sportwing. They advertise in Car and Driver so that made me feel a little better with the purchase. It is held on by the tape and I can assure you it is not coming off. Quality is also top notch.

Only downside if you can call it that, is when I pop the trunk, the weight of the wing holds the lid down. Sometimes I have to check to see if I popped it. It used to fly up when I hit the remote.

Reference: PAINTED HONDA ACCORD 4DR 08 FACTORYSTYLE LIP SPOILER (http://cgi.ebay.com/PAINTED-HONDA-ACCORD-4DR-08-FACTORYSTYLE-LIP-SPOILER_W0QQitemZ140276659193QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMo tors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item14027665 9193&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A543%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C2 40%3A1318)

nice! thanks! do you have any more pics? No. But there are numerous pics in various threads & posts in this forum, use the search (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/search.php)!

As aforementioned, it's a virtual replica of the OEM accessory lip-spoiler offered by Honda (same mold & identical recessed under-spaces for P/N stampings, etc'). You can't go wrong.

If you like the OEM accessory lip-spoiler, buy this. If you don't, then don't buy this. Simple as that. Very easy decision to make. There is no compromise w/ this replica lip-spoiler vs. buying the genuine OEM accessory lip-spoiler. You won't be disappointed.

FWIW, this was by far my fav' & most satisfying purchase for my Accord!

G/luck!

I got the same one from Ebay - Sportwing was the store. Comes with 3M tape - that's all you will need. Just be patient - follow instructions and it'll be fine.:naughty:

i got mine from "thespoilercompany" and I just noticed that the spoiler isn't sticking on the two end sides - what should i do? take it off and reapply the tape? -- and mine didn't come with any template I just cleaned the area and stuck it on.

it probably won't come off but it just bugs me that I can push down my spoiler and in a second it will pop back up again

^ I got mine from "thespoilercompany" on ebay as well back in June of '08.

I initially inspected the lip-spoiler to make sure it's curvature & recessed-spaces made good surface contact w/ the trunklid (being that it's a replica part, variances in fabrication & final form are plausible). Then, I carefully applied attached the lip-spoiler after some diligent surface-prep' (alcohol wipes w/ non-lint wipe) on a hot day (helps promote adhesion/bonding between the surfaces). So far, the 3M VHB mounting-tape has been A-o.k. w/o any movement/play anywhere on the upper edge of the trunk-lid where the lip-spoiler was attached.

If the space/gap is bothersome or noticeable, simply get some professional adhesive remover & some more 3M VHB mounting-tape and refasten the lip-spoiler onto the trunklid. . .

-or-

Reattach the lip-spoiler using the included hardware (nuts/bolts), obviously meaning:

- properly align/position the lip-spoiler
- drill some holes in the trunklid
- primer/paint/etc' the holes to prevent corrosion
- attach the lip-spoiler to the trunklid

thanks for the reply! Yeah I wiped the area with alcohol pads and used a microfiber to dry it then I put on the spoiler and parked my car outside (hot day as well)- the spoiler was on tight but when I came back outside the two ends were slightly popping up (just a little) but I'm anal about stuff like this. If it continues to be like this I might just take it off and reapply some more adhesive tape - no way am I drilling :) and thanks again Osiris! and BTW how bout you take some pics of your inspire rear end already!!!

i just received a replica deck lid spoiler from THESPOILERCOMPANY. it is for my sedan and it is just NOT sticking to the trunk. the curvature of the spoiler is not anywhere CLOSE to the curvature of the trunk. if i hold it down at the middle of the trunk near the "H" the two ends just fly off the ends of the trunk. i really doubt this will stay on with double sided tape. i dont know if its worth trying to get another one. they did supply hardware for you to drill into the trunk but i really did not want to go that route. any thoughts?

FYI...lol Honda does not make their own spoilers/ Parts.... Actually 60+ percent of the manufacturers including Honda N.A. have their oem body kits and spoilers made by a body kit company in Georgia... :) so sometimes although it may not be OEM, it really is, you just didnt buy it from the dealer....

fongaroos... you basically have (3) routes to go, keepin' things simple:

- get an exchange from the vendor if you feel the lip-spoiler is misshaped/faulty [most easy solution]

- properly install (meaning: surface-prep' & precise positioning) the lip-spoiler using just the 3M VHB tape already affixed to it; if there is 'play' or gaps, use more 3M VHB mounting tape or windshield adhesive which the strongest adhesive on the market [extra-work solution]

- use the hardware provided, for a more secure fit [ideal solution]

Also, are you sure you have the lip-spoiler properly oriented/positioned on the the trunk's decklid? When securing my lip-spoiler, I had it off by about a 1cm or less (1/4" - 1/3"), and I noted the flex characteristic you speak of (the actual spoiler is bowed/convave, hence needs near ideal positioning).

nana outpost is supposed to be good. But just send it back to the "SpoilerCompany" I worked with them before and they were really nice. I accidentally ordered the actual wing spoiler and told them about it and they sent me a new "lip" spoiler no hassles
