At 80 Bucks a set they should do more than clean your windshield :naughty:
I do a lot of hi-way driving at speeds usually well above 75mph and have yet to have a problem with Honda OE Blades and refills.
Your real problem is more than likely the arms or to be more specific the springs in the arms getting weaker and not applying enough pressure to hold the blades down properly. Just a thought before droppin that kind of money for wiper blades. Pick up someAquapel (http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/aquapel/aquapel.jsp) and try out, good stuff!

how much would new springs cost????

also, try some penetrating oil on the pivot point for the arm. if that joint is seizing, it won't let the spring apply the pressure needed. seen that many, many a time on audi's... no reason it can't be likely on honda's from what I've seen....

i have had no trouble having my wipers stay onto the windshield around 75mph, but above that, forget it....could be due to aerodynamics too though.....
are you talking where you can make the wipers stand up for replacement / etc.?

how much would new springs cost????
Arm Assemblies required (cannot by springs separately)

i am sure that i couldn't get a new one from the factory by now.....my car is 12 years old..... :) just saying....

example, if you raise the arm, and bring it down torwards the windsheild, does it "want" to return to the windsheild, or do you actually have to put it back down there??

goes back after moving from "up" position, slamming onto windshield.....

Go buy some downforce blades from the Mercedes dealer. They're standard on the '00-'01 ML, before or after that I'm not sure. '02 on they may have switched to an all rubber wiper with a downforce blade molded in. Dunno how well they work, 2000 ML320 has never seen heavy rain :dunno: They'd work on Bosch wipers I know, because that's what the ML is using. Beyond that I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure it'll work on pretty much any wiper.

DIY, use some steel wool. I'm sure somebody can elaborate on this...I don't want to since it might be costly and I haven't done it before :D

I use regular wax on my glass. Works like a charm, nearly as good as Rain-X and without the bad side effects. RainX made my chamois clingy, so hard to clean the glass.

wouldn't wax smear all over though? and how much do you apply?
BenjiBoy650
03-09-2005, 09:10 PM
I apply as much as I want, but normally it's two coats or so. Does it smear? Not really. If it does, I do it over. There's not all that much glass and it's not like I have to bend over backwards to get wax onto the windshield lol

along the realms of rain-x, i've always hated rain-x, BUT i love the windshield washer fluid! in heavy rain i usually have my wipers set to low speed or one of the intermittent settings. the rain x washer fluid seems to help bead and send the water flying off of the window without the nasty side effects of the rain x wipes and all.
i also aio my windows on occassion like i1 does, but i quit doing it on my windshield because it had been making my wipers "jumpy".... still do it on the other windows! ;)

have you noticed when using the de-icer stuff that it leaves a orange trail around your nozzles and down the hood???

just looked at the pic of those blades, they are the same that come on audi's now and we replace a ton of them for not clearing well.... not too long ago they were actually on backorder because of the incredible need for replacement.

Folks,
Well, I live in (usually) rainy Oregon, and I've been a Rain-X fan for many, many years. I really don't comprehend what some of you are finding "bad" about it -- mainly, for me, it's just a pain to apply it properly, if you're using the "real" original stuff.
I absolutley routinely drive in the rain on the freeway with no wipers going at all, letting Rain-X do the entire job for me. Only when I get in amongst a bunch of trucks and really get a lot of excess spray on the winddhield do I turn the wipers on, and that's usually only for a swipe or two until I get into more "clear" air....
Truly, in concert with Rain-X, I use a very minimal amount of wipers, both in-town and on-the-road. For instance, you'll never see me blindly sitting there at a stop light with the wipers beating back and forth -- I just turn 'em off. For instance, I'm pretty sure that most folks will use more "wiper swipes" during one red light than I'll use during my entire commute. So, maybe that's why I'm happier with Rain-X than some folks -- I'm not getting into "performance" problems with the wipers when I've got it on my windshield.
I'm also very happy with the new Rain-X windshield washer reservoir additive stuff -- I really haven't re-applied my original coat of Rain-X this winter, as I've been able to rely upon the additive stuff.
In the end, I've always been amazed at "normal" people who don't use something like Rain-X and who drive around with just a horrifying mess of smearing and such during the rain -- I am definitely "into seeing well," and I've relied on Rain-X for at least 20 years now. I've tried most of the competitors, and nothing has satisfied me anywhere near as well as Rain-X always has. Though, I haven't tried that "Aquapel" stuff -- I might give it a shot, as something easier and longer lasting is always worth checking out. I always make sure to buy "good" wiper blades, but I don't think you'll see me buying something like "forty bucks apiece" wiper blades anytime soon. I think a few minutes applying Rain-X properly is a far better investment!

I am also a fan of Rain-X. I've used it for many moons kemosabe. I find no negatives using it.

To prep and clean your windshield here is the key. Yes, I have used it for decades . Just make sure you rinse the windshield and surrounding areas extremely well. It's a little known detailers trick and works wonders. This is for the exterior only.
As far as coughing up for the wiper blades, uh, I think not.
