Hi there,

I put on the deck lid spoiler I purchased from eBay recently. I used the 'Highly Recommended' version and used the VHB 3M tape to install it. It came on perfectly aligned, but I am second guessing the strength of this stuff. If I life my trunk, I can see spots where the tape has not fully bonded. I had it out in the sun all day, as per the recommendations.

Right now, I am thinking of taking this spoiler off, and going about the drilling method. It would give me much more piece of mind knowing that if someone were to use the spoiler to close my trunk, that it doesn't fall off! Additionally, my system in the trunk causes quite a bit of vibration, which may reduce the strength of this stuff after a while. Does anyone know what I can use to take this off with? Is it similar to debadging, or do I need some sort of special solution?

Thanks for your help!

Same procedure as debadging. Use fishing line or dental floss. I have had the same problem with my lip spoiler.

Thanks for your response!

Have you actually taken the spoiler off? Also, does the VHB stuff come off the spoiler easily?

Actually I've installed & taken it off 3 times because of what you mentioned. use acetone or nail polish remover to remove residue from your trunk. This time I filled some of the voids in the spoiler with silicone to gain more surface area for the 3m tape to stick on to. I plan on glueing some rubber matting onto the silicone & then installing the
3m tape on top of that. Hopefully I'll get a better seal.

Thanks for the information!

One last question... how long did it take for you to get the spoiler off, with all the residue removed?

5 to 10 mins, that includes re-waxing.
