Had hail damage and they had to replace the hood on my brand new EX-L I4. It was a honda hood they put on but i'm not sure if it is fitting right. There is a definite ridge between where the fenders meeting and the hood sits. I can't remember if this is deliberate (as it is with the trunk) or if they put the hood on wrong. I have included some pics. Can you guys let me know what you notice on your hood (it is very noticeable to me sitting in the drivers seat). Thanks.

nope it shouldnt do that, it should line right up, figures a dealer would just slap it on and let you go. go back and tell them to realign it. if you payed your own money for this they better fix this with a mint on top of the hood.

That is what I figured.. Seemed too sloppy for Honda to have that ridge out of the factory. I got this done at a body shop - luckily they still need to fix some damaged moldings so I'll add this to the list. May explain why I noticed a bit more wind noise as well. Argh.

looking from the front it looks somewhat ok, but what you see from the side it should not do that at all. a lot of people who get their hoods changed or replaced have a hard time lining them up, i guess its because its one of those things where you take it out once, it wont be the same again, but have them do it the best way possible

Looks half assed to me.

Is there a bolt/screw or something I can quickly tweak to get it aligned? Or do they need to completely remount it?

do not do it yourself, its a lot harder than it looks. if you move it 1/4 of a inch and try to close the hood, you have a chance of ruining your paint, or the hood itself. I used to do body work on 18 wheelers and some smaller cars, and its really not for the average joe to try. I damaged a $4,000 hood by 1/8 of an inch of movement on a truck.

well, it could be that rubber twist cushion thingy located on a lot of other cars' hoods. Check in the front corner under hood for like a rubber knob, if it twists and lengthens and shortens, try lengthening it so the hood on that side is pushed up to level with fender. Again this is just a possibility.

hey guys - there are two height adjustable stoppers at the front of the engine compartment. I played with that and got it to sit better but still low at the hinge which I think they need to fix by loosening the bolts and resetting. That and the hood won't close unless I drop it from 16" or higher which i'm not liking. Just bounces and won't click from lower heights. I'm fairly certain the original hood would shut/lock nicely from only a few inches drop. Is this what happens with your hoods?

Our cheapo hoods don't have an adjustable 'striker', like most cars I've owned. I'd assume there's an adjustment on the latch side, but obviously more involved. It should be an easy job after removing all the plastic around it.
At any rate, DON'T just adjust the rubber stops, since you can bend the hood, and also ruin the hood release mechanism with so much pressure.
If the hood is aligned correctly side to side near the windshield, and front to back, it's mounted correctly, and it needs to be adjusted at the front latch. Good luck.

Yeah dude, I would take that back. I just went outside and looked at my hood and it matches perfect with the sides. My hood does latch just being a few inches up like you stated.

Good Luck!

yup i'm done mucking about with this. I agree that too much more fiddling and I may dent/bend the dam thing so I'll just leave it to them to fix. Right now alignmnet isn't too bad on driver side which is what I have to look at all the time. I'll get it adjusted by the clowns that put it on.
