Greetings to all. I'm new to this forum.

I recently bought a '05 EX-L. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the homelink remote , not even as an option. I tried searching on internet, but Homelink doesn't sell their product as aftermarket. Any suggestion? One option for me (other than keeping two large remotes in the car) is to find a Homelink remote from Pilot, Accord V-6 or Acura possibly from a junk yard, but I don't know where to find though.

I also want to install a back-up sensor. Since Honda doesn't offer one for Accord, I guess I'll have to get aftermarket one. Any recommendations?

TIA.

Thanks Steve!!! That's exactly what I'm looking for. :notworthy :notworthy

I called them and asked how to install and how much. I was told that it just need a velcro to be stick to the visor, so it has its own battery power. The cost is $199.99. OUCH!!!!!!!

for $199.99, you would be better off buying the unit from an Accord EX-V6 and having it integrated instead of velcroed on. many parts websites have it for ~$200. (ie. hondaautomovieparts.com, hondapartssource.com, slhondaparts.com, etc). i also think our site sponsor tim (hondacuraworld) said he can get those out for like $166 or so shipped on another thread on here. not sure if that pricing is still available, so PM him or something...

Using the homelink sunglasses holder module from the EX-V6 is definitely possible. I think I remember some folks on TOV doing it.

Just remember that if you have navi, to desolder the voice module from your old sunglasses holder and put it in the new one. That way, your homelink can work by voice command too.

Thanks again for good suggestions. Although Gentex's remote is small and easy to install, it's quite expensive and I doubt the durability since it's held by the velcro to the visor. I'll PM Tim and see what he can do.

Well, I contacted Tim and it's been over a week, but he couldn't find one. :dunno: I guess I need to find it at some junk yard, either from Accord V6 or a Pilot. Does anyone in Los Angeles are know a junk yard that I can find Honda parts?

I'd like to add an integrated garage door opener, too. I just haven't gotten around to actually ordering anything yet. Since my garage is not attached, I have to carry the remote out with me anyway so I haven't been in a hurry. I just like new buttons. :D

These are the options I've found:

1) OEM Honda homelink module. I thought I had read somewhere that you do not have to replace the entire sunglass/map light assembly. The empty space by the microphone pops out and the unit is plug and play? College Hills Honda (http://www.collegehillshonda.com/accordsedan/03_05_interior.htm) $174 w/o shipping. But I notice their accessory page says temporarily unavailable?

2) This is a neat one: Flash to Pass (http://www.smarthome.com/7458F.html) You just splice it into one of your high beams and when you flash your garage door with your high beams - OPEN SESAME :notworthy

3) This one carries dash mounted buttons that will integrate with some "blank" spaces in the interior of my 89 Prelude. Mikado Technology (http://www.mikadotech.com/) THis is is battery operated.

I like the flash to pass but I often back in. I'm assuming if you're close enough it doesn't matter. I don't "aim" my garage door opener either. I usually hang it in the driver door pocket and it works from there. (The visor is too thick to clip it on securely.)

Hope this helps.

There is a website called carpart http://www.car-part.com/ . I have a 2003 honda accord coupe non-navi, I am planning to convert my car to navi, I found my navigation unit from this site for $800 and that included the Navigation, homelink with mic, and DVD player. Just use the website to find which junkyard has a honda near you and ask them if they have the homelink in the car.

PS: I'm waiting for the helms manual and electronic troubleshooting manual to come in so I can install the Navi. Don't worry I plan to take pics.

Thanks for the info. I like the third option. I would need a remote with at least two buttons.

how much is the third option? it's more complicated if you have a rolling code system and negates the added security since i think it will have to basically convert it to a non-rolling code system to use it.

The gate and garage door openers that I have are not rolling code. I'm currently using the Homelink in my Pilot and it worked with the "simple" training.

I just called Mikado and the third option is $59.95 + tax (I live in CA) + $7 shipping, but I was told that I will get a 15% discount. They are in San Francisco. The price is very reasonable, but both buttons (has two buttons, but pressing two buttons simulate a third button) work on same frequency. I don't know the frequencies of my gate and garage openers are the same. :dunno:
