View Full Version : Fog Lights?
I currently drive the 8th Gen. Coupe lx-s i4. I'm thinking about purchasing the factory foglights. I have a few questions.
-How well do they work for you in the fog?
-If they didn't come standard for you, how much did you pay?
-Are they easy to install?
-If i decide to purchase them, should i go to a dealer or is there a cheaper and reliable online site?
thanks
silverkord 08-26-2008, 10:04 AM The fog light kits are made for the EX and EX-L. When you order them they ask for your vin to confirm before shipment. If you do get a hold of a set you will have to figure out how to wire them as they will not be plug and play.
salvag 08-26-2008, 10:10 AM 1. We hardly ever have fog where I live. I would imagine they work well for their intended purpose, however most people (including me) keep them on for aesthetics.
2. Came already installed on my V6.
3. I would imagine they are probably one of the easier accessories to install. It would require removing the bumper which is fairly simple.
4. Never buy from the dealer. Do a search for "Honda Accessories" and you will find many sites that are much cheaper... handa-accessories.com for example. You can also download installation instructions there.
Good luck.

you will also have to get a new front bumper, yours dosnt have the cut-outs for fogs
bukxanger 08-26-2008, 12:38 PM i'd prefer aftermarket... i heard that some members, including mine, lenses have already cracked. So i guess it's not made of very good quality. Only my passenger side has cracked. Sucks cause i think a new one would cost about 250 from dealer, not sure.
Check out www.collegehillshonda.com as one possible source for the fog lights. Their prices are competitive. You can also view the installation instructions online to see if its something you would want to tackle on your own. It’s straight forward but tedious. Your Coupe already has the cut outs in the bumper cover for the fog lights. (If you had a 4cyl sedan, they provide trim pieces that mount onto the bumper to house the lights.)
I like the factory lights. I use them more in the rain than fog. Their low, wide beam of light helps to illuminate the lines on wet roads and keeps the sides of the road in view in rainy conditions. They def cannot be used as your only means of illumination at night as they’re not aimed to do so – they only go ahead of the car maybe 10 feet but they stretch way out to the sides. Plus, the factory harness only allows them to come to on with the headlights.

the LX-S coupe's have covers for the fog lights :D
I've looked into this as well...I plan on doing it this winter. From what I've found, the wiring is already there, but there are no connectors, so there's splicing involved. Then swapping out the steering wheel switch.
Had a thread on this a while back... cant find it now tho...:paranoid:

Hitman 08-26-2008, 03:51 PM I got my fogs installed on my i4 from Honda. It was really pricey, but I needed it to fill in the gaps in my Aero kit... just looked too empty!
Has anybody swapped the bulbs to bright whites? I wanted to do this, but was wondering how difficult it would be, and also, what types/brands of bulbs I would need to do so? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.
rwlib3 08-26-2008, 03:53 PM found it...

ksills 08-26-2008, 04:18 PM Apparently the wireing is there for the LX-P and LX-S, however, you have to splice. I'll wait till I see someone else who knows more than me do it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think LX-S is pre-wired (connectors aside)...(EX and EX-L is) switch is a must on both EX and EX-L (don't worry, it's not a big job and when you buy from CollegeHills, it's included in the price: just specify your trim to get the right one).

Wouldnt surprise me if it wasnt...just going on what others have said :D
Hitman 08-27-2008, 07:00 AM Are the H11's the standard size for the Honda OEM fog light bulbs?
I am looking to swap, but wanted to know the size. Thanks!

Yes they are. Direct replacements.
shogun 08-27-2008, 01:50 PM :drink: I'm also planning on purchasing the fogs but will switch out the bulbs to HOEN bright yellows for all the foggy/rainy days here in the PacNW. Will also install the same grill material over the openings as I did on my lower grill for protection.:naughty:
