saw in consumer reports that the new Saturn VUE is powered by the same Honda v-6 in the Pilot and Odyssey...at least they know that the engine will last longer than the rest of the car....

a sign of saturn's return to reliability??? we'll see... :)

whene they first started out....the first two generations, before they sold out to GM, they were the most reliable American vehicle overall in consumer reports testing.

I was aware of it. Shame the rest of the car can't work as well as the engine.

One of my buddies from High School bought a saturn with ~92K on the ODO and sold it with ~280K. I think it was a '94 4 door. He only replaced a broken shock mount in the years and miles he owned it.

My g/f's family all swear by saturns. Her mom has a '92 (I think) 2 door coupe. Original motor with 320K w/ original clutch. That is pretty amazing in my book. I have heard of eeking over 200K out of a clutch, but 320K is pretty awesome. She drives about 60/40 highway/city I would guess.

The things about saturns that worry me are 1) Plastic bodies, and 2) If I am going to survive a wreck in my g/f's SC2 if it gets hit, beings it is plastic except for the hood and gas door, and I am 6'6".

I thought I also heard that the 4 cylinder in the Ion Redline was a Honda motor. Maybe someone can confirm...

The Ion Redline uses a turbocharged Ecotec motor so it is not Honda. And yes I have heard Saturn clutches are beyond indestructible.

Saturn made a reliable car until the bean counters at GM made them stop. The company was started to compete with the Japanese. They did a good job at it while they allowed it.

The only honda motor that I know of that is in a saturn is the Vue? Its the sport utility thing that they have. it has the 3.5L V6 in it.... too bad it does not have the honda logo on it :(
