My Accords

Im new to the forums Hi! :D I am 16 years old, for my 16th birthday i got a 1999 Accord Coupe 4 cylindar i loved it sooooo much... unfortunatly a drunk driver hit me.. getting insurance money i had enough to get a 2000 accord coupe EX v6 wow i love this car sooo much.. heres some pics of the totalled car and my new car :

I wanna do stuff to my new accord but i have no idea what to do i dont know to much about cars the only modification is my k&n airfilter that adds 5% horsepower.. any suggestions ???

CAI, gReddy dual exhaust, CompTech headers...that might free up 20-30HP. The V6 has very restricted breathing, these small things should help a lot and make it sound much more aggressive.

i dont really care about speed that much but anything i should get exterior wise?

Here's a website to help you out. I've never ordered from them but they're big so I assume they're pretty good. Coupe and sedan bumpers are completely different, so look carefully to see which body style the kit is for.

Personally, I would go for body kit, perhaps a Wings West. Also, I'd lower the car (properly...springs AND shocks, or a coilover, plus camber kit). I'd probably do the wheels last, they're not half bad as is. I'd do the headlight housings DIY. You can spray the inside of it red without affecting light output by much, or you can make it black as well but I think red would be nicer. Maybe paint the grill body color. If you're into it, you can do a CF hood and/or trunk. I'd leave the taillights alone, if anything you could shave the lights on the trunk as some others have done. Just throwing out some ideas :)

Luckilly me and my girlfriend did walk out of it with minor injuries... Heres the story: I pull up to a red light theres no cars behind me, i look in my reaeview mirror and see an suv clip a car while coming out of a parking lot, i didnt think much of it besides "oh that guy got in an accident." so im just waiting for the light. A few seconds later i look in my rearview mirror and the cars speeding twords me, like half a second before it hits me i hit the gas as hard as i can(man i wish i had my v6 then) and it creaaammmed me, the car skidded sooo far. On the police report they put the guy was going 45 but i believe it was faster. The guy also hit another car about a half mile down the road.. Suposedly the guy had "head tramma" but who knows? im just glad to be alive thx god for seatbelts!

i would say 60.....45 would not do THAT MUCH damage.... :(

heck, i'm thinking more than 60mph!!! i was hit at atleast 65 and the damage to my 7th gen was nowhere near that significant! :dunno:

Yeah 3 cars :\ he was pulling out of hooters parking lot so in my mind i think he was drunk but they said he had head tramma... even though they didnt do a drug and alcohol test on the seen of the accident :dunno: but i like my new car now i think it looks really clean and i love the tips on the exaust, what you guys think?

i would have ordered the alcohol test on the spot, and threatened to sue the police department if they didn't.....i would be in court for months fighting that!!!! :rant:

He already had a suspended license so it obviously got taken away... we were gonna go after the police but my moms sick with cancer and doesnt have the strenght to be in court for hours... at first we were gonna get no money cus he had 10,000 minimum insurance with Geico and it was gonna be split up into the 3 accidents but i did end up getting the full 10,000, even though on the police report he did 16,000$ worth of damage to my car :\

that still ain't right....if he wrecked three different cars, then each car would be worth differently.... if you had a rolls royce, a honda, and a ford escort, and they split 10k between them, the only person that would be happy is the escort guy....

i understand about not wanting to fight in court with cancer in the family.... :sorry:

i still would be livid over the settlement though.... :headbash: :rant: i would still be fighting for the extra 6k of damage.....

were you able to use any of your own insurance to help cover the cost (via an un/underinsured motorists coverage)??

my accident was deemed hit and run because they coudn't determine if 2 pickup trucks or one was involved. so although i as not at fault, i still had o pay my deductible and use my insurance for the repairs because they couldn't find one of the 2 pickups and thus couldn't determine who was at fault. so the police and insurance co's took the "easy" way out.... it's so frustrating! i knw what you'r gong thru with all of that! :headbash:

Im only 16 trust me if i could go to court and fight it i would, this guy deserves to be locked up in jail.

Unfortunatilly we did not have Collision on that car i only had it for like 2 months.. my insurance did pay for the days of work i missed i was happy about that :thumbsup:

Im really happy with my new car though, my dad was one of the first to have that style of the accord he had a 98 ex v6 and ive wanted one ever since then (when i was 10) my dad no longer has that car and is jeliouse of me :notworthy

The 1st thing I would do is learn and get everything you need for keeping it clean and protected. {Detailing :yes: } Heads will turn with that color if you have no swirls or cobwebs and a shine :jawdrop:
Once you master the proper care for that Beautiful red paint then you can start thinking about customizing.

I will offer one little bit of advice(the dad in me) :paranoid: Exhaust, lowering, loud stereos and so on attract attention that is not really good for a new driver..not telling what you should do just offering advice :)

Im sure Florida has similar laws.....

Here in AZ when this happens, there is no way to do any field sobriety tests because the driver was taken by ambulance.

However, we get blood from the hospital and that gets tested. Then the driver gets his license suspension and DUI ticket. There is a year in a misdemeanor to get the charges thru after the date of incident.

Inspector1: Trust me my dad said the same exact thing. Im not really into the hole lowering it with a huge sound system.
