hey all,

My girlfriend just got an 05 scion TC which is a beautiful little car. I can't wait to make the paint shine. My question is how long until proper paint care can begin. I have read that you should wait a certain amount of time to let the paint "settle" or whatever. Is there any truth to that?

Its a deep silver/grey metalic color, not quite black but not quite silver. I want to make it look great (ie souveran) but dont want to spend that much on wax.

I have nattys, ssr1, ssr2.5 ex,

Maybe clay it then nattys???

any advice?

Thanks as always

Proper paint care begins immediately! Wash the car.

Does the car sit outside pretty much all the time or is it garaged?
If it sits outside all the time, I would use a true carnuba wax (like P21S) & not a polymer sealant (like Meguiar's #20) this weekend.
If it's garaged, I would probably wait 30 days, 60 days if you can, before waxing it.

If the paint is already in crummy shape, then some Meguiar's Imperial Hand Glaze might be in order followed by some carnuba wax.

If if has no swirling or marring yet, I would clay and then put a coat of nattys on it for now. If you have minor swirling try the SSR 1 with a polish pad 1st to see if it improves if not then step to a cut pad.
Or you could clay, ex then natty's , play around and experiment to get the look and process you like.

Check the build date if the car is 60-90 days old you will be fine.

ex is a sealant correct? I have never used a sealant before. Do you have to allow some time for it to sit before waxing. I have read somewhere that you should wait 24 hrs before waxing over a sealant to allow it to do its job. Is there any truth to this???

Thanks as always

Yes it is wise to allow min of 24 hr between coats. I usually QD between applications to make sure that surface is clean before applying next coat.

EX is a sealant w/carnuba EXP is pure sealant..

so ex and the nattys carnuba as a topper and refresh every 30-45 days with a coat of nattys. Unless you get the bug and want to try something different

Sounds like a plan. I'll make sure to take some before and after pics

I just had a thought...

Could I just use klasse all in one instead of ex and nattys?
