View Full Version : seems this site is only 8th gen'ers
Sig86 CM8 09-09-2008, 06:29 PM just like the title says. my posts are low because i don't see a lot of stuff being posted on/about 7th gens. only 8th gen stuff. yes i do hate on the 8th gens on here because it's like some of you don't want to wait for products to come out, you "rice" out your NICE & NEW 8th gen which i'm sure wasn't cheap at the dealer and to me, it looks like garbage. that's just my opinion but i guess there's not a lot of 7th gen owners on this site?
seems i don't get as many replies to threads/posts i make as i thought i would even though the name of the site is driveACCORD.net
Jusaccordin 09-09-2008, 06:39 PM Why would you post this? If you were a loyal member of this site you would c that a 7 gen owner already posted his views about this. Do a search and add to his thread instead of wasting peoples time
HereforInfo 09-09-2008, 06:50 PM As for the ricer mods. Like I previously mentioned... this is just my DD until I can justify purchasing a gusler. So I am not saying this because you hurt my feelings. Hurting my feelings is next to impossible
But I don't think this site is called driveoldaccord.net ??? or is it
A&Fbro28 09-09-2008, 06:52 PM Dude it's not worth being "catty" to the person. I'm surprised as well. They better NOT choose a new title art that shows all models because only 2 models are represented. Unless they add "other Gens section" in this forum then it does not warrant such art. I doubt this will change as you never see moderators comment in threads similar to this person and others. Maybe the more complaints, they'll move to improve this awesome site to include other accord models. Until that time you 1st-6th gen owners are just 2nd class citizens on this forum. My .02...

Why the hatred???
You are right about more 8th gens in the forum these days, but its only logical because 8th gens are what's available at dealers, and we all go crazy with mods and questions when we have a new toy  I was exactly like that when I bought my 7th gen 2 years ago.
Regarding the looks of 8th gens, remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I sincerely don't like the 8th gen sedan because to me it looks too much like a BMW 5 series clone, I think the 7th gen sedan had more a Honda personality and character. But the 8th gen coupe, on the other hand, looks IMO a million times better than the 7th gen coupe, and IMO its hands down the best looking Honda in a very long time.

so you just about summed it up. it might as well be. 8thgen.net
good choice of words there buddy :headbash:
Jusaccordin 09-09-2008, 07:14 PM Moderators cannot do much about this issue because the 8 gen is the new car.8 gen owners are posting newly developed mods as they come out and trying to know every feature about their car. I am sure this was done when other gens came out. Have patience maan, in time to come when everyone is settled in their car the posts from 8 genr's will decrease.

qbanlinx 09-09-2008, 07:23 PM I'm not sure what is bothering you most that lead you to post this thread. Are you upset because not many people post replies to your threads? This thread of yours turned out quite popular with plenty of responses: so what did you do to your 7g today? (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18907). So you're mad because your other threads don't get as much response as you'd like them to? Seems like wasted anger.
With regards to 8th Gens, it is natural that a lot of questions/ideas/mods (and therefore threads/posts) will arise when a new gen for a popular vehicle has come out, especially when there are limited accessories available so early on. I'm certain that most honda/accord sites were flooded with threads/posts in late '02 - most of '03 when the 7th Gen came out. So why hate on this if it is always bound to happen? Again, IMO, wasted anger. :thumbsdow
Sig86 CM8 09-09-2008, 07:27 PM i find it hard to believe that hardwiring a radar detector is a "mod"?????? connectin pos/neg is a mod? come on now
qbanlinx 09-09-2008, 07:37 PM a modification is a change to something, no? so if i'm changing the source of power, that's technically a modification then isn't it? lol i can't believe i just had to defend that. quite proud of doing that myself as well. so no need for the presumptuous arrogance about simple mods just because you're angry your posts aren't being replied to :)

07AccordEx-L 09-09-2008, 07:46 PM i'm a 7th gener and the only reason i dont post in the 7th gen section anymore is bc nobody else does and its usually a dumb, boring topic. this is the only site for 8th gens anyway i believe. or the one that has the most. every other site that has 8th gens is dead, like v6p and modifiedaccord. i've been in the 8th gen more lately bc i might be getting one.
if i was still into my 7th gen i'd be bak and more active on g7a. jus my .02 man..

GO FOR IT
qbanlinx 09-09-2008, 07:47 PM lol okay this can obviously go on all night, and while fun for now will soon prove to get boring. my point is that 'hating' on a car gen, or anything for that matter, is wasted energy. so just let it go, and whatever your posts are about you'll see there are plenty of interested people who'll reply. no worries.
Tuolumne 09-09-2008, 09:01 PM I'm sorry, I guess I've completely missed the purpose of this thread. You're angry because people have moved onto the latest generation Accord, and *gasp*, actually want to discuss it? My god, the nerve they must have!
Sounds to me like you're just disgruntled because you spent 2 hours uploading pictures of your "riced-out" accord only to garner modest responses. Get over it?
namegoeshere 09-09-2008, 10:07 PM just like the title says. my posts are low because i don't see a lot of stuff being posted on/about 7th gens........ i guess there's not a lot of 7th gen owners on this site?

There isn't much new stuff being posted about the 7G Accord because most of the issues or questions have already been asked and answered. If you have something new to share, then by all means post away.
You're seeing a lot of 8G related posts because it's still a relatively new car, there are still a lot of questions and issues, and 8G owners are excited about their new cars. 8G related posts will eventually die down just like it did with the 7G... especially when the 9G is out. There used to be a lot of 7G owners here when this site first started up, but those people have either moved on to different cars or are no longer a part of DA on a regular basis.
There are still a few of us 7G owners here. Aside from myself, there's MotorCity Honda, princess, KunalPatel87, RTexasF, VTECaddict, The Pope, WolfpackBill, etc.
Yes, we 7G owners don't post as much anymore. Why? :dunno:
My reasons are:
1. I know how to use DA's search function or Google.
2. I know how to figure things out for myself.
3. I'm not having any problems with my car.
4. I work full time and am constantly busy.
5. Trying to spend less time sitting in front of a computer.
6. etc...
stiller fan 09-09-2008, 11:35 PM you know, 7th gen accord used to be basically overrun on this site, with still good info for the previous gen cars, the 6th gen..... there are members out there with older accords as well (take my 4th gen, for instance.... do a search for my name, and see how many questions that i have for it.
there are 5th gen owners out there as well, as well as some 3rd gen owners as well who chime in on occasion, or lurk in the shadows mostly.
simply put, if you need anything, we are all able to write back to you in a timely matter. if we don't, there's always the search feature along with the 7th gen FAQ.....
kopimon 09-10-2008, 05:01 AM The 8gen is new and people are still discovering things about it so, yeah .. it will have a more active forum. namegoeshere made a good point .. 7gen stuff has already been discussed and is easily searchable
One gripe I have with the 8gen forum is that new people are constantly posting the same stuff (which wheels? which tints? which fuel? zomg my ___ rattles!!!) but I guess every forum on the internet is prone to that.
Coolcrush 09-10-2008, 05:02 AM LOL-this thread fails.

Yeah...that is pretty normal.
This site did the same thing with the 7th generation and will do the same thing with th e9th generation.
This is just how the world works.

That was me....voiced my opinion, 8th gen guys bashed and treated me like I was 13, then a few of them sent me PM's cussing me out...seems to be a lower age group for the 8gen's (no insults intended)...
On a serious note Sig, since I spend 99% of my time on G7A now, I like it far better than this forum anyway. Nothing against anyone on here, it's just more appropriate for ME.
Kinda makes me sick to come back here and its got 8th gen banners and a bazillion 8th gen posts, and nothing else. Guess it's just evolution man. I've found my place and come here when i'm bored looking for new posts.
Heckler 09-10-2008, 08:59 AM "riced-out"? by all means explain how my car is riced out b****

What's there to post about? For the most part, there's a thread for just about anything related to the 7th gen... in the 7th gen area... you just have to search.
The 8th gen is brand new, so I would expect that the majority of posts would be related to it as owners find new things, have problems or simply have questions.
justeddie 09-10-2008, 01:22 PM Sig, I am a part of ALOT of Accord forums and DA is the ONLY truly active 8th Gen forum out there. So why not let the 8Gen have its time in the sun?!
Further more, if you hate how there is no 7Gen activity, refer this site to several of your other 7Gen buddies to post some crazy DIYs and the masses will join sonner or later.
Don't just sit and complain... get up and do something about that! But I must say it is a SHAME that DA has become stagnant....
Left-Laner 09-10-2008, 01:30 PM :lurk:
Threads like this is almost like Howard Stern -- you just can't wait to see what will be said next.

Stagnant? When I logged in today I saw that there were plenty of new posts.
RTexasF 09-10-2008, 02:07 PM What could possibly be asked or discussed about the 7Th gen that hasn't already been asked & discussed ad nauseum? Now it's time for the same old questions, discussions, mods, to be presented for the 8Th gen...........just like they were on the 5Th, 6Th, 7Th and ALL previous models! If this forum doesn't suit you then find one that does and I don't say that in a mean way at all. I participate in three Accord forums because I like the variety that each one offers.
You can't turn back the clock to 2003-2007. If you had a 2008 or '09 you would wonder why people still talk about the "old " stuff.

No, I simply sit back and laugh and I wonder how they can think they are better than me because they drive something ugly. I went to the dealership to buy an 8th gen, and left with an 05, and it wasn't because of money....
woody4364 09-10-2008, 03:29 PM Who care's????? :dunno: Don't blame the 8th geners for dominating the threads and posts. Other generations of accord's can be more active on the site if they wanted to.

You are pushing the line here Heckler. Cheap shots at people that bought new Accords are, well, cheap shots. Why you would think that people buying 08Accords feel superior to you is beyond me. Why do you continue to come back to this forum just to bitch? You get along well on 7Th gen, what is your problem here? Remember I'm on both forums and you have me confused totally.
Do you feel that people buying new BMW's feel superior to you also? Or Audis, Mercedes, Chevys? Where does the list stop?
I suggest you take a break from here for a while, your posts reek with hostility and discontent.

I agree here. This site has a wealth of 7th generation knowledge. I enjoy reading posts about the 8th generations (mods not so much) even though I don't plan to own one.
There are a lot of great 8th gen owners here as well who bring a lot to the table in regards to this forum.
Oh....and Sig...I'd refrain from the cussing...you are not strengthening your thread by calling people names.
foamypirate 09-10-2008, 04:25 PM Why isn't this thread locked? It's a huge waste of space/bandwidth.
88AccordLX-i 09-10-2008, 05:35 PM All of this really doesn't bother me! :lmao:
It really is just a normal trend, people move on from old to new (most of the time!) and why should we expect this place not to follow that trend? If you want a particular part of the forum to be more active, you should do your part to help it, instead of just complaining, as that will get you no where.
:lurk:
A&Fbro28 09-10-2008, 05:46 PM I'm a 8th gen owner and i must say that unlike an earlier statement made here, not every gen accord is represented here. I was like "is this guy serious?" Show me each forum for each gen? Where does the 6th gen owner go if they have a question. at least mak a Earlier gen section for 1-6 gen.
nighthawkcoupe 09-10-2008, 06:05 PM What exactly is the point of this thread? Welcome to life dude, the 8th gen is a new car, people who just bought it are going to be more active on these forums than those who have had their car for a few years. I'm sure this site was dominated by 7th genners when that car first came out. Same will happen for the 9th gen. That's how it works. There's a 7th gen forum where you can talk about your car all you want. If there aren't as many active members in there, it's probably because they have had their car for some time and now have a bit of knowledge about it. As for the other gens, I agree that a section for them would be helpful, but as far as a 7th genner goes, I fail to see what more this website can do for you and why you are complaining.
Sig86 CM8 09-10-2008, 06:19 PM On this note, Sig's car is not riced out, it's cleanly done and I personally like it. :salue:
i'll drink to that. amen

filter? no. i simply put the "*" myself so someone wouldn't complain about the language? bandwith? are you serious? 1 thread that is 3 pages long and ur worried about bandwith? :thumbsdow
psyshack 09-10-2008, 06:33 PM 8th gen is in the house now. What can you say.
7th gen is taking its rightful place.
justeddie 09-10-2008, 06:47 PM Stagnant? When I logged in today I saw that there were plenty of new posts.
Yeah but on topics that already have been covered countless times...
AznX TL 09-10-2008, 06:54 PM even though i have a 8th gen i feel the same way, some of these 8th genners need to get out their high horse and acting like driveaccord is all about 8th gens. and all i ever see is a billion threads about when are coilover, intake, exhaust, ect ect gonna come out. or what kind of rims should i get.
88AccordLX-i 09-10-2008, 07:19 PM They better NOT choose a new title art that shows all models because only 2 models are represented. Unless they add "other Gens section" in this forum then it does not warrant such art.
Until that time you 1st-6th gen owners are just 2nd class citizens on this forum. My .02...
I'm not sure how to take that...either you mean that the "forum" makes us seem like 2nd class citizens or is that just what "you" or the "8th gen owners" feel?
If it is the first one, then that doesn't bother me. There is a General Drive and Problems & Solutions section. If a problem arises involving one of my "old beaters" I just go there...
But, if it was the second one, then..ouch.
Who care's????? :dunno: Don't blame the 8th geners for dominating the threads and posts. Other generations of accord's can be more active on the site if they wanted to.
I agree with this statement 100%
I don't even have a 8th gen and I know its a new model out so obviously owners of this new model are going to have allot to talk about.I like Accords period and I'm not very knowledgeable in cars so to me I don't care if its 8th gens 7th gens or what I wanna know and be in formed. We are all in the same Accord family we just have different years.Look on the bright side at least we don't have Civic's ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha :banana::banana:
sjlee 09-11-2008, 06:53 AM Yeah but on topics that already have been covered countless times...
If people only posted up new topics, there'd be even less activity. Do you honestly think that every single question hasn't already been asked for the 7th gen?

How would posting up new topics be promoting less activity???
What drives people to forums is finding out new information that relates to their cars. So more people would be interested.
If somebody came on to this forum and did a DIY on putting a Gen8th's Auto Headlight system into a Gen7. Then you would see more Gen7 activity.
Same for the Gen8. If some brave soul was to do a Start Button DIY, then more of the knowledgeable Gen8 will input their ideas, etc.
The standard information would still be available so the "newbies" would still be around. By putting more NEW technical information you would bring another audience into the mix.

I think you're misunderstanding my post. My point is that the reason why there isn't much activity related to 7th gen Accords (OP's post) is that there isn't much that hasn't already been discussed. If you or someone else comes up with a great DIY thread (like the ones you've mentioned), I'm sure activity will pick up... but as it stands most things about 7th gens have already been discussed multiple times.

Completely agree with you. My "stagnant" statement was reffering to the Gen8 posts... samething over and over again... There should be great mods available by now! (its been a whole year!) Maybe I will take a plunge and do the Start Button mod just for the hell of it...
