If you were to buy new ones, or have bought new ones for your car that make you VERY happy.... which brand?
If the brand isn't on the list please specify!

bought pioneers, they sounded horrible, simple plug and play, no amp.

I chose other because I'm not sure between a few of them, if any at all as I don't think our OEMs are too bad. but they can always be better.

I think that the speakers chosen would depend on whether you are going to amplify the system or not.
If not, those with the highest sensitivity would be required to get the most out of the stock system, regardless of brand.
If you are going to "amp it up" the sensitivity of the speakers wouldn't be as important. :dude:

i think my oem speakers realised that they were going to be swapped out so they stepped it up a notch, my roomate seriosly thought i put a 10 inch in my car at the ny autoshow.
they actually sound very very good, im impressed by my OE speakers now.

I upgraded my OEM system a few years ago and have not regretted it one moment. My speakers are Boston Acoustics NX-97's in the rear deck and NX-67's in the doors. A 10" tuned port Rockford-Fosgate sub sits in the trunk just behind an Alpine MRV-F450 5-channel amp (1 channel drives the sub and the other 4 channels drive the NX-97's and NX-67's). The head unit is an Alpine CDA-9813 which integrates an XM satellite radio tuner with a CD/MP3/WMA player. The Boston Acoustic speakers sound great. They sound even better after adding the amplifier. The built-in amp in the head unit is excellent but the extra headroom the external amp provides and the tight bottom end provided by the sub-woofer turn a really good sounding system into an outstanding one. The head unit's sound processing capabilities (selectable digital delay to each speaker, selectable media expansion with each type of media (tuner, CD player, MP3/WMA) with its own expansion settings. It's a great environment to drive and listen. I'm looking forward to the next 190,000 miles listening to 80+ songs per CD (WMA format at 160 kbps). Excellent listening for progressive rock, progressive metal, rock, jazz, fusion, classical, country, folk, etc.

I agree with you OwAce and others,
Honda OEM stereos and speakers sound fine. But once the car payments ended in 2002, I thought the stereo upgrade would keep me happy with my '98 for years to come. The stereo and the Accord's great all-around performance and economy continue to keep me happy and rollin' down the highway.

I voted other, I have Polk Audio MOMO series for my 6.5's and my 6x9's, and two 8" JBL subs in a box and I love em.

The Infinity brand is very efficient so it works well with the stock head unit. The sound is crystal clear, but it kind of forces you to install a sub for low end balance.
