i somehow made a small white scratch where the radio screen is http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2168/2546532131_a3ea6af958.jpg
you see that plastic around the radio screen, well on the bottom of it there is white scratches, surface nothing deep, and i cant get rid of the white scratches.

how do i remove that piece? doe anyone have a diagram, i am going to paint that plastic part if i remove it, and clear coat it.

if not removing it and painting it, does anyone know something procen that will remove those scratches?

this is the reason i hate black and black plastics of any kind...:thumbsdow

Really hard to tell anything from that small picture. Could you please post a zoomed in shot?

Instead of painting, you could always just order that replacement part from Honda or any of the websites that sell Honda parts. I would need to see a bigger picture first before I could tell what part it is.

its not my car, just showing where the plastic piece is, the circled is the plastic piece, the smaller circle is where the scratches are http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2546532131a3ea6af958rtjk5.jpg

and i dont want the same part, because the same will happen to it, rather paint it black with clear coat.

what can i use to remove scratches from plastics thats been proven to work? i searched and only things i found was acrylic plastic removal and etc

did you try using armor all?

Gosha

what exactly?

just the reg stuff, if the scratches are light it should fill it in and be unnoticable.

Gosha

well what regular stuff exactly, i am confused. i know their products are really shiny which is why i never used it, but what will last a while if i put it there?

the scratches do go away after i put some cleaner on it, but when dries they come back.

is there a permanent solution for this? like special scratch removers for plastics?

armor all interior spray, but you're right it is gonna be a temp fix for like a week or so.

If the scratches aren't too deep, you should be able to use plastic polish. Its like a very, very mild rubbing compound for plastics. A swipe of the polish and some ArmorAl should help.

That plastic piece is $5. You will spend more on wax and stuff...

how deep are they? This sounds kinda crazy but it works about half of the time .... rub it with your finger till it and your finger get hot. between the heat and the oils in your skin the scratch may disappear, if you have dry skin try a little light oil like baby, olive ect on it.

AWESOME, man thank you.

now i need to figure out how to remove the console and get that piece out... any idea?

guys i tried Plastic X it made things worse, made an even bigger mess...

The scratches arent deep at all, surface scratches. the plastic is so cheap that ANYTHING will be left on it, or should i say the polish of the plastic is cheap anything like skin off the fingers is left on it...

finger trick wont work, it leave skin marks all over which requires me to wipe if off again

so you guys have any idea how i can get to that piece and remove it?

sorry for double post, but i assume to take out that piece the center radio console has to be taken out right? how do i go about doing that

also the majestic honda site, they are not cheap. its 20$ total, 10 for shipping and 5 for handling which BS, 5$ part turned into 20.

any other sites that have parts?

Get it from your dealer. Should be no more than the "retail" price listed.

Why not check your local dealership to see what their price is? The local dealership will not charge you S&H.

i dont know if i would replace it.......then you risk scratching other pieces.

Look in the forum "2008 Honda Accord Instructions", there may be something there already. If not, post and "princess" might dig up the instructions for you.

Wrap some thin rag round your finger, rub that on some black shoe polish, then run the scratch.. It should vanish...

I have used shoe polish for upholstery fixes for years, and its always worked fine for me..

You could try posting in this thread, most of what you need should already be there:

If the scratch isn't too deep, Plexus will make the scratch disappear. Otherwise it will make it a lot less noticeable.

yeah they arent deep at all, surface marks, when i run my finger over them i cant even feel anything thats how they are.

will shoe polish stick to it forever or it will wear off?

does plexus last forever or wears off also like dash protections and etc?

The shoe polish works great and it will last a long time if you dont rub it off...If you do...just re apply it....

i tried the shoe polish but its just impossible to spread it even as such curvature.

i bought the new part for 8$ and just replaced it today, it was a pain taking the radio out and breaking a couple of clips but i got it.

the whole plastic console around the shifter with cups and etc i am getting painted black and clear coat over it all. the plastic is such cheap quality that i dont want to replace that console when i scratch it so clear coat should do a good job at keeping scratches away.

thanks for all your help guys

I have it replaced at no cost by the dealer, after I claimed it scratches very easily. Part # 77255-TA0-A01ZA Visor ASS (Center Console Visor Trim).
