View Full Version : Badges Not Cool????
Dark Shark 09-16-2008, 10:41 AM So when I bought my HFP 19's the dealer threw in a HFP badge kit. It was free and I figured cool, this completes my HFP coupe. Ten years ago I would have already had them put on, but ever since I joined this forum I've noticed that the guys who mod their cars tend to prefer little to no badges at all. Is this not the cool thing to do anymore? Is it like wearing a mullet or a blue ruffled tux in present day or something? I know that a lot of you are going to say "It's your car, do what you want" because that's what I always say when reading threads like this, but I still like to keep up on current trends. :D
Whatdaya guys think? I have thick skin, so fire away. If you think it's cool tell me:thmsup:, if you think it's lame tell me:thumbsdow
AznX TL 09-16-2008, 10:48 AM HFP badge is nice if you have a good amount of HFP parts like the aero kit and few other parts.
but if i were you, i would put it on since you pretty much have a HFP coupe.......
woody4364 09-16-2008, 10:56 AM I just bought a set of two emblems from ebay. I bought the HFP wheels and i should be getting them in today. I like it. If I were you i would slap one on. I know one of them goes below the Accord badge on the trunk. Where does the other go?

if i were you i wouldnt slap on that sticker just yet......just like the Dinan badge for bmw, i consider HFP badge to be the same thing, gotta have all the HFP parts to wear the badge.
Osiris_x11 09-16-2008, 11:08 AM Poseur or not, I'm gonna throw on at least (1) HFP emblem on my '08 Accord sedan when I'm done w/ my exterior aesthetic mods' (ie. HFP 19" wheels, tints, after-market springs/shocks, OEM-replica deck-lid lip-spoiler, color-matched OEM splash-guards, rolled-tip polished oval exhaust-tip, JDM '08 Inspire trunk lower-garnish & tail-light reflectors, chrome-trim molding on front grille, etc'). I might remove the 'Accord' emblem/badge though, still unsure. . .
I say if anyone has the HFP body-kit, suspension, and wheels, then they def' are worthy of putting on the HFP emblems!
frenzal 09-16-2008, 11:14 AM I don't want any badges on my car for mostly two reasons:
1- Car is less attractive to thieves;
2- Car is less attractive to police.
If car is debadged, then no. If not, go ahead.
AznX TL 09-16-2008, 11:19 AM I don't want any badges on my car for mostly two reasons:

2- Car is less attractive to police.
new accord doesnt really have that problem because the accord doesnt attract police, and theives don't really want any parts off the accord.
Dark Shark 09-16-2008, 11:30 AM if i were you i wouldnt slap on that sticker just yet......just like the Dinan badge for bmw, i consider HFP badge to be the same thing, gotta have all the HFP parts to wear the badge.
What am I missing, the Six-Speed? Yeah I know, I wanted it bad but I would have had to wait probably three more months to get it. 5-spd Auto is as good as it's gonna get for now.
Osiris_x11 09-16-2008, 11:36 AM What am I missing...
I believe AznX TL was referring to woody4364, in regards to waiting before the addition of the HFP badge(s).
According to woodt4364's sig'...

i would think a debaged car would be more attractive to thieves, since debadging is something that "car guys" do to their cars, along with other mods.
i would think the adding the hfp badge would make your statement true, but not having the accord badge on.

I got three exterior emblems and two interior in the package. I'm assuming for the outside that you put one on the trunk and one each side of the car near the front wheel well. I have no idea where you would put the badges on the inside.
AznX TL 09-16-2008, 11:40 AM What am I missing, the Six-Speed? Yeah I know, I wanted it bad but I would have had to wait probably three more months to get it. 5-spd Auto is as good as it's gonna get for now.
i was talking to woody, but i think you should put yours on.
GetUpKid 09-16-2008, 11:40 AM i get compliments on my debadge anytime someone looks at my car when im around..
still working on the custom front grill debadge.
AznX TL 09-16-2008, 11:41 AM i would put one on the trunk and one on the grille like the Si or the mugen Si
Dark Shark 09-16-2008, 11:42 AM i was talking to woody, but i think you should put yours on.
Gotcha, Thanks.
woody4364 09-16-2008, 11:52 AM I'll be putting my Emblem on when I get the wheels.
woody4364 09-16-2008, 11:59 AM What would you guys get first?
Body kit or suspension? I'd say suspension...

kit! the kit looks fine without the drop, but looks even nicer with the drop.
Accordlover 09-16-2008, 02:54 PM theives don't really want any parts off the accord.
The Accord is one of the top 10 most stolen vehicles in the US...
My neighbors 05 Accord was stolen just the other day.

i meant new ones, the list of stolen accords is usually 6th gen and below. i believe the older integra and older camry are also the top 10 if not the top 3 along with the accord.

Of course, I'm talking about HFP, Eibach, AEM, etc... badges...not the OEM barges!
GuidoCoupeV6 09-16-2008, 03:56 PM Debadging is one way to go for the clean look, but only few can pull it off w/o it looking to bare ... I like the simple clean look maybe one badge or 2 but like my avatar i like the accord and v6 and prob would put the hfp on the other side if i had the complete setup, plus i don't want my car to look like an LX or SE lol ... ...
Viper98912 09-20-2008, 04:24 AM Debadging all the badges for the "clean look" is all the rave nowadays. Specifically on the accord coupe, I think the H with the Accord V6 on the rear trunk compliments the car. Without them the "clean look" looks bland to me. But on my current car yes I did remove all badges except the chevy logo.

Oh yes, I can hear the cop now... "Hey, look at that coupe over there. It's an ACCORD! Damn! It's got a V6 ENGINE!!!!! Holy S***!!! IT'S GOT HFP PARTS!!!! PULL THAT MOTHER F***** OVER NOW!!!!!!!!!"
And it's not like a thief wouldn't be able to tell that the car he is stealing is an Accord just because it doesn't say Accord on the back...

debadging has been around for a long long time. Peeps were doing it to their rides back in 90's
Osiris_x11 09-20-2008, 06:41 AM Someone needs to do the exact opposite... instead of removing emblems/badges, they need to add extra, but still relevant/applicable ones! :D
Ex.
"H", "Honda", "Accord" "i4/V6", "16v/24v", "iVTEC", "DOHC", "HFP", "LX/EX/EX-L", "EFI", "Type-S", "Type-R", "Inspire", "Euro", "SE", "Mugen", "Enkei/BBS", "Showa", "Stanley", "Bose", "Alpine", etc'. . .

Yeah - nothing like a good bumper sticker to show that new ride you got EH...?

Dark Shark 09-22-2008, 04:54 PM So as of today I'm officialy rockin' the badge.

Tomorrow...too dark outside now.
Dark Shark 10-01-2008, 03:26 PM Ok nothing special but here are some pics. I'm gonna have to adjust the interior one. It's a little off center and crooked.

Looks good Dark Shark!
Dark Shark 10-01-2008, 04:02 PM Looks good Dark Shark!
Thanks Wood. Did you apply your interior one yet?
woody4364 10-01-2008, 05:56 PM Thanks Wood. Did you apply your interior one yet?
Not yet. I'm still undecisive.

i think this looks way classier than what you got..
:dunno:
:lmao:
all honesty though, HFP is cool. and is not as annoying /gaudy as the other badges that are out there. hell, i dont even like the "VTEC" badges that come on the civic SI
Dark Shark 10-02-2008, 07:36 PM :furious:Blasphemy!!! Wouldn't be caught dead with that on my ride :thumbsdow
Finance Guru Z 10-03-2008, 02:28 PM evry badge in those pics is off centered man........cmon now.
Dark Shark 10-03-2008, 07:32 PM evry badge in those pics is off centered man........cmon now.
First of all, I think you meant- "Every badge in those pics are off centered". Also, there are only two badges so I think the word both would be more appropriate. Second, the one in the rear of the car is not supposed to be centered directly beneath the Accord badge (Take a look at the Sema 2007 example). Third, I already said the one on the console needs to be adjusted, so what's your point?
salvag 10-04-2008, 05:18 AM I'm not crazy about the interior badge. I personally would only put it on the exterior.
ETCMark 11-06-2008, 06:37 PM Badges add a minimum of 3.25 HP per square inch, the more the better. By the way stickers are only 1 HP per square inch.
listen to remix 11-06-2008, 07:03 PM Its okay to badge it if the car represents what's badged... I saw on another thread an accord with the bmw emblem lol
Osiris_x11 11-06-2008, 07:36 PM Its okay to badge it if the car represents what's badged... I saw on another thread an accord with the bmw emblem lolDon't haterize, instead accessorize! Make your Accord a 'Benzo, y0! :D
jblaust 11-06-2008, 09:14 PM I considered the HFP badge at first and then ruled it out...I prefer the clean debadged look. Only the Honda H for me.
AndrewClarke 11-07-2008, 01:56 PM I got my HFP badge kit for free from a friend at the dealership I dealt with for the purchase of the 2 coupes and the HFP accessories. I will be putting mine on in the spring. As far as being a "target" for theives, not a problem here in the wilds of Canada. (Also a "target" for the police...really, they're not that smart up this way to know what "HFP" stands for.)
That's my example. For you though, I would put it on if you have it. BUT, only if the car has the HFP wheels, suspension, and body kit. In other words (and as some others have said), only do it if it's a real HFP car. Nothing irritates me more than to see badges on cars that really have nothing to do with what the badge stands for. (Something like seeing a Ford MotorSports badge kit on a Tempo.)
My 2 cents
victorden 11-07-2008, 09:35 PM i like the clean look of de badge,

No kidding. I mean just the other day I beat an Audi R8 off the line, 0-60, and I swear it was because of the badges. The badges have given me the confidence to race a Ferarri next. I suggest everyone gets the badges to increase your street cred too. Because now everytime I hit the street, people say "Whoa dude here comes Dark Shark! Don't get in his way man, that guy is bad ass!" :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
RobertMcC 11-08-2008, 06:18 AM I'm kinda against decals or anything that will tell people whats in my car...
Brian09accord 02-18-2009, 05:13 PM what is hfp again thank you!

I remember reading awhile back about a company that would sell Hybrid badges. The example photo was of an F355 with a hybrid badge on it.
glen e 02-18-2009, 05:32 PM I debadge as I hate the look of wax stuck around the logos....
Osiris_x11 02-18-2009, 05:37 PM what is hfp again thank you!HFP = Honda Factory Performance (performance oriented OEM-accessories offered by Honda)... similar to Nismo of Nissan & TRD of Toyota, though both of them trump HFP in terms of offerings. . .

Yeah I agree with that. You could easily spend a ton of money with all the accesories that Nissan offers.
Arash 02-18-2009, 09:48 PM Anyone in NJ know where the HFP emblem can be purchased locally. I had my friend calling few dealers, giving them the part number ( 08999-HFP-101 ) and they said there is no such thing.

You can get them on Ebay or Bernardi Honda parts.

That is a good Honda part number unless they are one of the few dealers still useing the short numbers, that number is 751309.
rafael73 02-22-2009, 09:04 AM I added the "VTEC" badge to the trunk along with a red O from Oakley. Also the Ody has the "VTEC" badge.
BTW, they are OEM Honda parts, not "made in china" knock off
eDDys aVe 03-04-2009, 12:33 PM i switched my accord badge have an INSPIRE badge!!! so much cooler!

Strippers4Me 03-04-2009, 04:05 PM I've always de-badged my cars, kick is when someone asks; "what kind of car is that"
DUH
Got pulled over by a SPD and he didn't know what my CR-V was since it didn't have any emblems.
