Ok, so last Thurs this shop put Llumar ATR35 on my windows.

Then I saw minor scratches swirled on my 2 back windows, so today they replaced those 2 tints with supposedly the same Llumar ATR35.

When I got home just now I see that those 2 back windows appear 1 or 2 shades LIGHTER than the rest.

The shop says since the job is a few hours old, it needs to dry and it's gonna appear lighter than the tint from last week. He said to give it a couple of days to catch up the the rest.

Is this true??

I agree, tints take some time and heat to settle in.

nope, its a myth, once the tint is on its on. there is no such thing as settling in other than the haze from water that should go away and etc. however dark it is now is how it will be

when i tinted my tail lights it took a week for it to settle in and get rid of the little random bubbles.

That's not true. I took off my front tints and put them back on today and they look much lighter than the rest of the windows. the first time i got my tints they were light as hell but after 3-4 days they got darker and all the bubbles and scratches went away. Just give it a couple days

sorry guys you are wrong, my buddy owns a very succesful tint shop so he knows everything and other countless shops i have been in.

the ONLY settling is the haze that goes away and tiny bubbles, THATS IT, it doesnt get darker or lighter, and if it does then you must have bought the tint off ebay for 25$...

Now I'm just seesawing in agony!!

I looked at the tints again. It's nighttime but I can see clearly that the new tints aren't even GREEN!! Even last week when I got the original tints I remember them to be darker, a lot darker such that it was difficult to see anything in the back. Now I can see the seatbacks and such.

Interesting though that some of you say it gets darker after a few days. Tomorrow I'm planning to take it back to the shop and show them. Then I'll go on from there. But OMG can't anyone do a job right? Not even the 2nd try???!!!! I'm ever so paranoid now to let anyone work on my cars. They just screw it up.

My shop said it gets DARKER after a couple of days. So now there are 3 questions:

1. Do tints get darker shortly after install?
2. Do tints get lighter shortly after install?
3. Do they not change at all?

I think everyone is getting confused here, and are all basically trying to say the same thing...

NO, the tint percentage does NOT change. If you were to put a meter to it first day, then a week or three later it would be the same. BUT, the water and haze that remains days after DOES give it a lighter hazy appearance (kind of GREY). SO, when the tint guy tells you it will get darker after a few days and settle, it's just refering to the perception of the haze as the water dries and the film completly adheres. To the eye it will per say "get darker", but in actuality it is not.

I'm agreeing with you Ibanez.

Not only is my new tint a few shades lighter but it doesn't have any green to it like the rest of my tints. I'm taking it in at lunch today to show them. They would have to be blind not to see that they made a mistake.
