View Full Version : ok ok...so i kind of hated but i apologize........
Sig86 CM8 09-18-2008, 06:44 PM i just started dating a girl with an 08 NHBP coupe 4 cylinder (automatic)...and i have to admit..it's pretty damn nice...i have worked on the blue color v6 coupe (auto) at work but obviously i cannot take it for a test drive as i'll lose my job lol
after reading some threads on here i realize that it's kinda BS that it's been pretty much a year since this car has been out and there's like NO aftermarket support for these cars! WTF!?!?!? i mean i dont have a lot to choose from either as i have v6 6speed so the only engine mods i have done are the jpipe/testpipe/catback and precat deletes...yeah i can do other mods like port & polished manifold, etc, etc but that's $...i like to do bolt-ons like you can in the older cars so now it makes sense why most of you are DIYing some things....but i am STILL gonna hate on that guys intake, i'm sorry. not only is it hideous looking but one puddle through that filter and your motor is fried...my buddy did the same thing in his 92 civic hatch and i ALMOST did it in my 94 accord!
so sorry for that stupid thread
i do have a question though...are there any cool things i don't know about or read about? like i know on some cars you can change what it says on the radio or do certain buttons on the radio and make it display something else...if i had the money, i would've got an 08 nhbp v6 6speed 2dr but i dont have the $
i just showed her the window down feature on our 2nd date which got me a nice little kiss lol...i have a spare viper 3002 that if i am with her by this xmas i will put in her car
so keep up the work ladies & gents
AznX TL 09-18-2008, 06:46 PM this no aftermarket support is going to come to a halt soon, after im done with finals this semester im going to be cracking at some companies to get some more parts out for us around spring.
jblaust 09-18-2008, 06:50 PM Alot of big companies already have things in the works for early to mid 09. Stuff is comming soon. Wait until after SEMA. The 7th gen took a while for parts too and they still dont have a big selection of aftermarket stuff.
Gosha 09-18-2008, 06:51 PM yeah people who say its too early and etc, is BS. nissan Altimas 07's have a lot out, ALOT. body kits, plenty of exhaust and other things.
guess no one sees the point in tuning accords anymore
jblaust 09-18-2008, 06:55 PM I think that is going to change with this model though..
Gosha 09-18-2008, 06:55 PM why would it? same car...
jblaust 09-18-2008, 06:57 PM The 8th gen is a whole new design with a fresh new look. I dont think the 7th gen were that wildly popular to begin with. The 8th gen has alot of positive buzz going around. That is why I think it will be more popular with the aftermarket.

Because a lot of people will think this when it comes to Accords...
[This is on my "Vid" on my sig]
Him: I never got smoked by my grandma... because she drives an accord. Trust me man... they're not fast or furious. I've never known anyone to pull up to an accord and be like "holy s**t man it's an accord, watch out for those cars they're fast!!!" I've also never seen a 9sec daily driven accord either. Or an accord more than 300hp. It's got some hp, i'll give it that, but so does an altima. Sorry dude they're just grandma cars. not for racing.
Me: 300hp? Obviously ther are accords with more than 300hp, why do you talk trash about an accord's performance anyway? its beating a couple of mustangs.. mildy customized.. I'm not going to talk sh!t about it. So your G-Ma drives an accord, good for her, hope she has been liking it. Honda in EU is an old persons car, cheap, reliable, fuel efficient. Thats all they care about, also the reason why the Honda Pilot is not sold in Europe, Old people wont buy it
I'm curious what car you drive though?
Him: Maybe there are accords with more than 300hp but like i said before I've never seen it. I'm talking shit because you think your car is an import tuner or something of the like. There's cars out there that were never meant to be "modified" or "tuners" or whatever term you want to use. I laugh at people like you when you go down the street thinking your grandma car is fast. I raced a dude in a sentra 'cause he thought he had a fast car. I drive a kenne bell cobra. He seriously thought he could win
I think its not the Honda Pilot... haha keep mixing them up, i meant... Element? :dunno: haha
Anyway, people think the accord is a "Grandma's Car, Old Persons Car" I know a lot will disagree but meh, this guy is talking about him driving an 04 Cobra yet i have yet to see a video of it..
3rd time ive heard that the 8th Gen is a grandma's car, while looking at my car, or another accord coupe
AznX TL 09-18-2008, 07:36 PM thats youtube, its just a bunch of 14 yr old backseat drivers. and the only fast cars they know are ferrari.
jblaust 09-18-2008, 07:39 PM People say the same thing about Civics and look how much aftermarket there is for them. That guy is obviously an import hater in general.

lol. i would agree with you 90%, sometimes its serious, but most of the time, its exactly how you said it lol
This freshman at school is talking about his first car being a Lambo, i asked him what model, he said he didn't know, i told him that i hope its still drivable, aka not totaled and at the junkyard.

Average age of Accord owners is 50. Sounds pretty close to grandpa/grandma starting age to me
Osiris_x11 09-18-2008, 09:56 PM The Accord platform never has ever been a particular choice of after-market mod'ing/compact-sport enthusiast. Therefore, that has reflected in the offerings by major tuning/modifying companies that usually favor Honda (ie. Mugen, Spoon, Comptech, Skunk, etc'). The Civic/Integra, Prelude, S2000, and even TSX/Euro-Accord have had generally more after-market support, due to their owner-demographic. Even the Honda/Acura halo-car, the NSX, had very weak/limited after-market support. It's all a matter of dollars & sense, in the industry/trade!
Trust me, it p1ssed me off too for ages as I have owned 4 Accords over the years and I never really had many options for motor-swaps/engine-builds, forced-induction, ECU/chips, etc' compared to other Honda/Acura cars. But, I was stuck on the Accord for it's refinement, feel, fit/finish, proportion/size, stance, and comfort. I didn't want to get a Civic/Integra/Prelude to modify (even though I owned a few of the latter two), I wanted to do that to my own Accord. I wanted the best of both worlds w/ the Accord (a GT/cruiser AND a tuner/hot-rod). Like they say, if you gonna do it - do it in style! :D
It's sorta like my friend & my approach towards our new/current projects: E/V's! He got a FD3 RX7 and is in the process of his conversion. I'm on the prowl for a 986 Boxster or pre-964 911 for a conversion. Many others in the E/V community are using donor Geo Metros, Ford Rangers & Festivas, VW Rabbits, and so forth. They are all in awe of us, or rather think we're nuts! :D

yo syl i was commenting on that youtube video too...idiot doesnt realize were only 30hp away from 300as it is...my mustang gt had less hp stock than my accord
Volga 09-19-2008, 04:22 AM If aftermarket support is important, go with Subaru! :paranoid:
And turboed platform is much more responsive to the mods
I really miss my Legacy :bawling:
Feels like whole market shifted toward WRX and EVO.
MikV66MT 09-19-2008, 05:07 AM I have tried writing companies, well 2 at least, I only have recieved the basic computer generated emails. I have had 2 other accord prior to my 08, I remember especially with my 04 that when I first bought it there was nothing on the market for it, it took about a year or two. So I am just being patient, and putting the money that I would use to modd it, to instead pay down the principal on my car loan. :)
Jay1335 09-19-2008, 05:37 AM Guys you also have to remember that EVERY 8th gen accord thats on the street right now is still in a warranty period. Companies aren't going to put out engine mods and other mods because most people will wait till they are out of that period to start doing parts like that. I have a feeling as these cars start coming out of that period will will see much more parts. I could care less about the warranty because everything thats on my car can be changed back to stock with no problems.
Sig86 CM8 09-19-2008, 06:11 PM ha! tell that to a guy that brought me his 09 maxima today and wanted a full system, alarm, and told me he's getting rims, intake, exhaust, etc and he goes "who cares if i void the warranty? i got the money to get stuff fixed"

i doubt it, most aftermarket parts come right as the release of the car, for instance the rsx, or 8th gen civic si.
