View Full Version : Tire Replaced: My Experience

So one day I discovered that one of my tires wasn't holding pressure. I take it to what I perceived as a reputable tire place: we'll call the place Neveragain Taking Back (name not important, but bolded initials ARE).

Turned out there was a nail in the sidewall--not happy about it obviously, but what can ya do. So I ordered a new tire (Michelin Pilot...just like stock...not a fan of mismatched tires and I've been happy with the stockies so far).

Tire comes in, I have 'em change it. I was in a hurry to get my son to ball practice afterwards, so I neglected to inspect the wheel closely after the tire change. When I got my son to practice I inspected it...lo and behold the wheel is friggin' MANGLED. Two big gouges in separate spokes, one long scratch along the whole length of one of the spokes, and multiple scratches along other spokes. I was flabbergasted.

So I took it back immediately, and to his credit the manager didn't give me any grief about whether or not his place did the damage. He accepted responsibility and promised to make it right.

I drop the wheel off the day before it was supposed to be mailed out and called the next day to confirm pick-up: it wasn't picked up--I was not pleased.

The next day I called and it was picked up. 3 days later (today) I go to pick it up from the place. They reinstall the wheel (it looked brand new...also to their credit) and I leave. 20 minutes later the TPMS light comes on. I take it back and they put more air in it (it was down to 24psi). 20 minutes later after leaving the TPMS comes on AGAIN. I take it back--again--and they discover that the gasket on the TPMS sensor was no longer any good, so they replaced it.

After 6 trips to the same friggin' place to have ONE tire replaced, I finally have a good tire AND good wheel.

So just a reminder for those that might have forgotten: always inspect your car after you have some service performed. I got lucky and the manager didn't give me any hassle about it. You may not be so lucky as I.

It's hard to let somebody do the work because they just don't care about other people's belongings. I'm glad that they fixed the problems they caused you!

I trust my tires and wheels to Discount Tires. I got my alloys on a old Mazda6 scratched and they replaced the rim with another OEM one.

We JUST had a Discount Tire open up across the interstate from the place I mentioned. I would have gone there first had I known they'd already opened. I'd never heard of the place I went to, though I guess they've been around for a long time. This particular location just seems completely incompetent.

Next time it'll definitely be Discount Tire for me.

NTB has always been hit or miss with me, DT has always done me right glad you got everything fixed though they could have eaasily said no to fixing anything.
