I know replacement tires is a question asked alot on the site so here are my observations.

Went with Kumho ecsta LX Platinum.
It has a V rating, pretty reasonably priced and looks pretty good too.

GOOD things:
QUIET. I guess I am getting to be an old fart but the noise of the old Michelins (which I got 65K out of by the way-never had to rebalance once)
was getting to me. Instantly noticed less noise.
SMOOTH. Guess 5 and a half year old tires are going to ride hard but these new Kumhos don't thump quite as hard over road bumps/joints.
WET TRACTION. Was raining the day they were put on. I could hardly get them to break loose from a stop.
STEERING EFFORT. Easier to turn when standing still.

BAD things:
They are a little squirmy or rubbery. A review on Tire Rack said it was like "putting socks on." I would agree. But I also have to keep in mind that my old tires were nearly bald so of course those were going to be extra sharp turning.

Overall take:
If you want all out performance this is probably NOT your tire.
If you want a less noise and a bit smoother ride with good grip then I can't fault them.

Sounds good but never owned a set of Kuhmo's so alittle skeptical, but the wow factor on the price tag of the replacement Michelins is crazy ... I do however contrary to what most say about them like them so far alot .. no noise better than good handling at less than 60% tread, now the winter will be the determent on whether i stick with them or not :paranoid:

I just replaced 50,000 mile old Toyo Proxes 4 and they were rated for 40k so I found an easter egg worth 10k more tire life! I replaced them with some Yokos because I heard on DA that they had the lowest rolling resistance from a previous poster and I also instantly found the wheel easier to turn standing still as well as in motion infact in every conceivable scenario there is when it comes to tire use, this tire is easier to maneuver and btw, I am referencing the Toyos when they were brand new. I also found these lower rolling resistance tires to help my fuel economy by 2 mpg! My wheel wells have found a home with these new tires and I don't think I will ever switch tires again. Ohh and less road noise and more bump absorption too and these yokos are rated for 50k which is 10k more then those Toyos. I hope to squeeze out an extra 10k with super-regular tire rotations. What would be a good interval for tire rotations? The Toyos wants 3500 mile rotations, anyone know what the Yokos want?
