Hey guys my mom had her car serviced at an independent shop (2005 AT EX-L i4 Sedan) that uses OEM parts and she had the following things done. She has 38,000 miles and the rear brake pads were replaced, transmission fluid changed, air filter replaced, tires rotated, rear brakes realigned and the shop repaired my punctured tire. It's her first time having her brakes serviced and I thought they would change the front pads instead of the rear, but the front pads are still good. I just thought that was interesting. She ended up paying $281 out the door. Was that a good price for what was performed? Thanks

Def a good price.
My dealer charges 199.99 an axle just for pads and rotors resurfaced.

I think that's an amazing price for the amount of work done. It'll cost you an arm and a leg when you get it done in the dealer.

Yes they did a great job, and I am going to service my car there now on. But don't the front brake pads wear out faster then the rear? Her front pads still have plenty of life left and the rears were shot. Any thoughts.

It's normal on these cars. My MB C240 was the same way.

But then the point would shift to: your dealer or most dealers in general are rip off artist and not necessarily that he is getting a good deal? I got about 55k on my 2006 and even though I had some brake pulsating from time to time, I forgoed getting rotors resurfaced and that problem has been almost nil since. I think resurfacing rotors is a non-issue these days or atleast it should be..akin to learning to live with minor rattles etc. If you want rotors resurfaced, get them done at a dealer or shop that is more price competitive? :naughty:

Did they just install new pads or did they resurface the rotors as well?
Did you have the cabin air filter replaced as well? They're usually pretty nasty at 30k.

They just installed new oem rear brake pads and no they did not replace her cabin air filter.

If the brake system has not been flushed, make sure you get done as well. It needs to be done every three years independent of mileage. Take care of the cabin air filter soon as well.

My brother's car just got serviced there (1997 Camry i4) oil change, oem front pads and rotors replaced, front brakes realigned, 4 new toyo tires, drain and fill transmission fluid, replaced right rear outer C.V boot, replaced engine valve cover gasket, replaced flexible pipe for the exhaust system, replaced air filter. The total was $1130 does that sound about right?
