Ok, I am getting a little pained as to whether my decision to buy an accord (2 months back...'05!) was good or not...I totally love my Accord, love the way it drives, love the way it looks, feels, and what not...but, when I drive on the roads, I see people much much older than me driving the Accord...I am 25 right now, and I dont know if I bought a car that people much older than me only drive it!
So I thought I would put up a poll for this...I am not sure if this thread might be a form of prejudice, but I just wanna get a feel to see if I am in the right company of Accord drivers...I appreciate the feedback...thanks

Learn from the wisdom of old antiques like me!! I've owned more cars than you have had birthdays. Some cars were good, others were crap. I learned from those years which is why I drive an 04 Accord. The cool factor is something to consider, I understand, but so is reliability, resale, road manners, etc.

me, but i have the coupe, which seems to fall into a younger group for the most part. i'm 27, but people usually say i look about 20..... (if i ever stop getting carded, i'll be amazed! :lmao: )

Sorry man, you've got an old people's car. Kidding. I think Anyisa is right, the coupe has a lower age bracket from what I've seen. The sedan appeals to people who want something more practical than a coupe. (this is the first 4 door I've ever owned, I guess middle age is gaining on me at 35) It has a broad appeal, based on the good value and the performance. 3 people have bought Accords because they liked mine, two were younger than me, and one was older. Most people in their 20's probably get Civics, not because of the image, but because it's what they can afford.

32 summers for me, hoping that I've got extra cash when I hit middle age so I can buy a real sports car (doubt it though, can't stop buying Hondas).

I'm 26, got the car when I was 25.
I got the four door sedan because I think coupes are impractical and I don't like how they look.
To each his own, of course.

Hey not bad...I thot I wouldnt get even a single vote in the 16 - 25 category...two other people in these forums alone, atleast in 5 hours have voted for 16-25...now if you generalize that to the entire nation (and probably people around the world)...who are not in this forum...it should be a substantial amount...
just using some preliminary approx. statistics here...good good...now I feel much better about my Accord...
Keep voting people...and thanks for the feedback

yep i think most in the 16-25 bracket atleast would tend to buy a civic over an accord for financial reasons.
when i bought my first 2 civic's, i bought sedans because they were more "practical". i was planning on getting married, maybe starting a family. guess i lost the sense of practicality as i grew up! :lmao: i joke that i'm going through a quarter life crisis! actually now that i'm basically single, the whole marraige/kids practicality issue no longer applies! so i can have fun! and i love the look of the coupe!

I think the 4dr Civic looks more like a car for a more 'mature' driver than the Accord 4dr does...I've seen more than a few around here driven by AARP members. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The whole reason for putting up this poll and thread was coz when I bought the Accord, I had the Altima, Mazda3, and Mazda6 in mind...
I love both the 3 and 6...they are so much fun to drive...but all things said, the quality is nowhere near the Accord...that is why I went for the Honda...given the reputation that they have...
And one secret reason for going for the Honda...you cannot normally rent a Honda from Hertz or any of the rentals...but you can definitely rent a 3 or 6 or Altima or even a Camry!!
Honda rocks!
Peace...

yep honda has been very very snobbish with rentals, and even taxis for that matter, i have yet to see a honda taxi..who know mebbe someone will post one right after this.
go to v6pnet and youll see almost 70% of the buyers are in the 16-25 age bracket for the accord.
put this car on an atkins diet, give it some lightweight rims, drop it, sway bar it, umm a little engine management and the car is a fine sports car with comfort.

I am in the last category, but I convinced my daughter's best friend to go with an Accord as her high school graduation gift last year. She could have any car she wanted under $20k, and she eventually chose the Accord LX. Her boyfriend unfortunately went with the Mazda 6. 4 years from now, she will probably have double the resale value that he has at that time...

Most of the taxi's (nearly all of them) around here are Fords and Lincolns. The yellow ones are Ford Crown Vic and the black ones are lincoln town cars. I have no idea why this is so. I guess it's the cost of collision parts or something. There are a few other types of cars for hire I've seen, mostly Cadillacs and a few specialty cars (stretch hummer, stretch expedition etc) but those fall into the "limo" category.
As for rentals, from what I've seen rental companies tend to go for cheaper cars, except for high end specialty rentals like jaguar and mercedes.

which exactly proves the point that while a Camry can be rented from Hertz (rare, but possible), you cannot rent an Accord, which is comparable in price...
I would definitely like to drive a car which cannot be rented...that way you just cannot go pickup another car like yours for a weekend and trash it around...you car will be special to you!
Again, my opinion on rentals :dunno:

the reason why the taxis here are mostly the crown vic platform are mainly COS THEY ARE HUGE!....and damn cheap to maintain. very comfortable too.
yeh yet to see a honda taxi cab anywhere in the world as of yet. seen every brand from suzuki, to toyota, to bmw, mercedes etc etc but no honda.
honda refuses to sell to rental agencies to preserve their resale value. after 2 yrs rental cars are returned and then auctioned off to dealers who then sell them under certified used cars. honda dont do that, so less supply of honda cars mean higher resale prices.

is it possible that nissan and toyota produce more than what the consumers demand, so they have a surplus of stock and they have to fleet them to rental agencies in order to sell them? :dunno:

nope, they do it so that people can say oh wow that camry was nice, oh wow that mazda 6 was nice, we need to stop driving our pontiacs and buicks and buy this car.
i was done in that way by the trailblazer, its a very very comfy drive.

Very true...generally rental cars are almost new when you rent 'em...so obviously they will be good...and if you take cars like the Mazda 6 (offered by Hertz)...they are fantastic to drive and are prety good cars in general...I drove the Chrysler Town and Country once and I was bamboozled by the comfort..then drove my sister's Ody and then saw the truth...Honda does a fantastic job with their engine and ride!
I was on the verge of buying a 6 till I actually drove the Accord...I test drove an MT but still bought an AT, coz thot will get bored of the MT after a few years...
well, my story apart...am quite thankful that Honda does not sell to rental agencies...

Another reason for thinking the Accord is for old folks is that my wife just bought an Accord Hybrid, and she's older than me!

yeah, but try actually GETTING a camary as a rental!!! just thinking back to when they tried to saddle me with a neon and i had to search and search and search for a camry! i was willing to take ANY toyota or nissan that would be covered by insurance. and it was still next to impossible to find either! and the rental places were getting bitchy with me because i wouldn't take this pontiac or that chevy! and to them they consider them COMPARABLE cars! i don't know whether to :puke: or :lmao: !!!!

There are probably 10-12 7th Gen Accords where I work. Most are owned by over 45'ers. The common thread is they are mostly V6 (both coupe and sedans). If the V6 240 hp with leather, moonroof and 6 CD changer is an old folks car, then we have a bunch of them here. Bought the car because of the sporty comfortable quick ride at a decent price. Too old to look graceful getting in and out of a 2 seater. Only other choice (disregarding quality) would be the V8 Mustang. Could this and the sudden desire for surround sound everywhere be a mini-mid-life crisis??

HEY!! I resemble that remark.
Actually I would love a V-6 6 speed coupe. In truth my sedan has never had more than two people in it but I fold down the rear seat and use it as a "truck" very often.

Well, to some people, when you're over 30 you've already got one foot in the grave. I prefer the 4-door because my walker slips right in behind the front seats.

CMW,
I'll be celebrating the 20th anniversary of my 45th birthday this year and I too own a 2004 V6 Coupe with 6MT. I have been driving that other old folks car, the S2000, for 5 years and I still grin from ear to ear everytime I get behind the wheel. The Accord is nice but for sheer driving fun you can't beat an S2000. I just woke it up from its winter hibernation last weekend and it is just like the first day I got it all over again.

I'll be celebrating my 13th anniversary in 2 weeks. :salue:
