Figured I'd post this here as I'm getting ready to do this.

I bought a 6 CD that came off an EX and want to replace my single disc with that. I intend on following these instructions:
http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19635

Is there anything else I need to know? Security code (if applicable)? Will my LX display be able to display the information? Will my panel be able to operate the unit?

I've got three days to return it if I'm not happy with it or it doesn't work, so getting all my ducks in a row right now...

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

No, it's just a single disc in the LX

Really? On my LX i can hold up to 6 cd's. Is there only 1 kind of LX or is there 2? What LX-S?

What was the question? Oh yeah. Are you replacing the whole Head Unit? If so the pin outs will be different for the speakers and the sub unit.:dunno:

I get the unit today (or tomorrow at the latest). I'm assuming everything will just plug in and if it doesn't, I'll just send it back to the person I got it from. If it works, I'll post it here with pics, etc.

For those that are curious about this, this wasn't an easy process and it's still not over. I currently have my entire center console sitting in my passenger seat and I didn't want to risk breaking anything, so I'm taking this to my local honda dealer tomorrow morning and will let them do it.

Moral to the story, not everything's as easy as it looks online (or I'm just an idiot)!

Cheers!

Cheers!Your not an idiot because you learned from your mistake. An idiot would make the same mistake over and over.:nuts:

Good point. Well, anyway I'm taking it to a Honda specialist down the street tomorrow. I figure $80 is a decent amount to fix my mistake and have them make it right.

what are you stuck at? is it not fitting or the wire adapter not fitting?

There are basically five plugs that came out of the LX radio/CD and the new changer has several plugs that won't fit the pre-existing ones (3 of the 5 fit in the new radio but I still couldn't get it to play, though it did power up and loads/ejects CD's). I know one of them is for XM and don't know what the rest are for. Honestly, if they (the dealer I'm taking it to) can get them to work that's great, and if they can't then I'll be selling a 6 disc CD changer here in a day or so.

My local Honda dealer is now handling the problem. I'll let everyone know if this worked or if it was a waste of my time/effort/money.

And the result is...FAIL! This didn't work, they tried everything. The LX simply doesn't have the appropriate power connects to power the 6 disc changer. I'm going to attempt to put the thing back together myself, I plugged everything in but can't seem to get sound or the radio to work (though the AC, the LED display and the player accepted and started to play a CD. Any ideas?

So for anyone out there who has an LX and wants to upgrade their stereo to a Honda 6 disc changer - it ain't happenin.

Did you enter the security codes for the radio?
