I don't mind buying tires, in fact I kind of get off on it. There's a few smells in this world that I really dig and....well, i guess I shouldn't share too much eh?

So this morning I was almost to work when the little tire light came on. So the tire must be getting low. No worries. The problem I was having with this is that the car isn't maybe a month old. Oh well.
Got out of the car and looked at all 4 and all was well.
Came out 9 hours later and the rear is flat.
Kudos to Honda for making a tire changing jack that actually works. Go figure.
Limping my way to the dealership I was greeted with happy smiling faces. Another treat, dealer-wise.
So I hand them the dead tire/rim and watch the dude take care in pulling the tire. Cool. Gold star again.
Tire has a cut in it between the tread and near the side. They can't patch it.
Bummer. I was prepared for it.
I ask about tire road hazard. He says that Michelin doesn't have this. Oh???
He asked if I bought anything when I bought the car?! Huh?! Um, no....it wasn't offered.
So why doesn't Michelin offer something like this? Goodyear does, or did on my last car.
This tire has all of 5 weeks of travel on it and still has its titties on it.

The killer is when they had to look up the tire and see how much it would be. They called me a few hours later.

$365.00

FOR ONE TIRE!!!!????
Holy crap.
When I had my 911, the rear tires were nearly that much. This is a freaking Honda for crying out loud. Are they on crack!?!

So I went online and found the same tire on Tire Rack for over 100 less.

Tomorrow I go in to collect my rim and tell them thanks but no thanks.

Is this accurate for pricing? Over 3 bones for a tire?

You're buying tires at a dealership. Is this a serious post?

I heard tirerack.com is a pretty good site to go. Same tire at tirerack is $220 compare to $365 at the dealership.

Smart move in escaping that dealer bend over tunnel. They are brazen, are they not?

What's the Michelin model & size?

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if some Frenchie stuck a fork in it, as he knew it was OEM for an USDM Accord! Grrr... :D /jk

Check to see if Michelin will warranty it since it's so new.

They warranty their tires against defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or 6 years from the date of purchase, whichever occurs first.

Call them at:

Thats insane, I know last time I checked my 215s were $167 for the michelins online, so yours given there are wider should be about $200ish I am guessing but in the $300s noooo way, especially for 1 ... I don't know how they do it, must be all those old folks who drive hondas and don't know any better when the reps tell em they need new tires and the bill comes out to be over $1000 w/installation ... :thumbsdow

Sorry there's something amiss here. Even my crappy turdanzas came with a warranty, I was handed the brochure and the salesman explained the tire warranty, but made sure to say that if I do eventually have a claim it would be through the manufacturer not the dealer or Honda. You should get a new tire, free. I'm with namegoeshere call frenchie!!

I popped a tire on a bad pothole.. small gash in the sidewall, nothing they could do to repair it. I didn't want to be without my car for a few days so I shelled out $300 for a new OEM tire.

The dealer told me there's no road hazard warranty but didn't mention anything about a Michelin warranty .. I'll have to call them

These dealer prices are outrageous. I was told by the parts department that the parts they use a made to a higher standard for Honda than the ones that can be had at a regular parts store even though they are the same part numbers.

I guess there are people that will pay the price.

I took the link and ran with it. Will see when, or if, Frenchie calls me up to talk.
Got an automated reply so far.

You were told wrong. Manufacturers buy the cheapest tires they can buy, especially on main-stream cars, like the Accord. Just hear how much noise they make, and tell me if they're made with 'higher standards':lmao:. Take care.

I believe Michelin does have a warranty based on mileage. With only 5 weeks of wear, you should get close to 100%. Check in the materials you got from the dealer when you bought the car. The Michelin warranty should be there.

I was able to trade my "old" tire in at Discount Tire to knock off some of the price.
It still was around $200, even with that.

I couldn't wait either, or I would have gone threw another source.
It sux driving around on a donut when your car is brand new.

I feel ya..
Just be happy you didn't bust your AC condensor!:jawdrop:

True true .. it could have been much worse ... When I called the dealer up to see if he had tires in stock, he mentioned a chance that the control arms could be damaged as well

The TPMS is awesome though ... a brilliant example of engineering that works when you need it to
