Hello all,

I have finally finished my install of the Mp3 player for the accord. It works great.... I put the max # of songs allowed (25500) on one disk and it is alittle slow to load but it works and sounds great. The reason why I opted to put this in rather than the ever popular I-pod mod, is because I listen to a lot of techno music which is over 2 hours for one song. (Its kinda like a musical story) the ipod install while works would mean that I would have to put all of those old songs onto my computer then the ipod. since I dont own an ipod and I got all of the parts and player for the cost of the ipod this is why I opted to put this player in. on another note if you have the navi and want to put this in voice commands will not work on this player and you must press the cd / sat radio button to get this player to play. (if putting in disk, h/u automatically switches to the player).

The unit takes about an hour to install with the navi.... so an easy DIY project.

on an interesting note there is a 20 pin connector that must be used to plug the unit in. I had to purchase the splitter that allows the XM radio to work. my point is that the MP3 player has two 20 pin connections, like the second could be a bypass. I plan on installing the I-ves and hope that I can piggy back the dvd unit on this Mp3 player.....  otherwise I will have to rig the units to work....

just food for thought :dunno:

just for knowledge the mp3 player is a Kenwood unit.

I only have ones with it installed.... the camera died while downloading the pics and when I recharged the batteries the pics were gone. I will have the pic of the installed unit up later. ( gotta do some homework 1st)

From what I know you can't install the MP3 player and the i-VES DVD player together. Even if you could it would make little sense as the DVD player can reportedly play MP3s.

From what I understand, the i-VES uses an FM modulator. I found it a bit strange that an OEM accessory would use an FM modulator.

Secondly, the i-VES can't be installed with the MP3 player due to physical space restrictions, and not necessarily due to wiring. However, one could argue that having both there could cause the system to carry more current than it was designed for (frying something somewhere else), but this is probably unlikely.

Anyway, with regards to audio in issues in the Accord, I have tried to talk to the people at Blitzsafe via their forums concerning the fact that their Aux adapter disables the factory XM. And what is annoying about this is that the fix is extremely simple, i.e. the blitzsafe adapter must disconnect from the audio lines when it is de-selected. Currently it does not and they have simply not addressed this issue, despite the many owners who would like a working Aux adapter and XM.

Oh well, maybe I can find out how the ridgeline does its aux in, and maybe I could use the part from that, or I could do something else.

The bracket actually has the room for the Ives unit as well. The pocket can hold 2 din units. Looking at the harnesses that the Ives requires it only uses the 20 pin to convert it to the 4 pin connector that plugs into the unit. I plan on installing the unit and if I have to put the MP3 player on ebay. just hoped that I could have both units.

Exl-navi I see that you have put a converter on the navi. I could use the extra din spot on the adapter plate (currently a pocket) and use a aftermarket dvd player and play the dvds on the navi screen... I know that it is illegal, but a lot simpler than trying to use OEm equipment and make it work with the Mp3 player. I could also then use headrest screens instead of the overhead monitor.

My next question is : how hard was it to install the Nav-tv converter and can I use any dvd player with that tuner?

thanks guys for all the help :)
