View Full Version : I can't send email!

I have Modzilla Thunderbird. Have had it for years. Suddenly today it will only receive, not send mail. It can get mail to send if i go to the Comcast page & do it through them.

I reset the computer. I reset the modem. I called Comcast, but it's not their issue.

Maybe it will wake back up!! I hope! I hate using the Comcast email page...it's too cluttered.

Any ideas????

What operating system are u using? Do you have a router or are u direct into the modem?

The computer is directly into the modem (we also have a router) XP forever.

Maybe it's just in a mood......:dunno: It worked yesterday. I have no problems getting online or getting the mail to come in. Everything else is normal.

When I try to send anything via Thunderbird it says the Comcast server isn't found... :dunno:

What kind of modem is it? How long have you had Comcast?

We've had Comcast since they began internet service in CA.... here, since mid July. It's a RCA fat one, for internet & phone. When the power goes out they told me to reset it by pulling the battery & putting it back in. So I did that when it would email. First, I unplugged it. Did a restart on the computer which normally cures most things for me. :dunno:

I called Comcast & they don't care since it works in their mail system. I hope it's just being moody & tomorrow it will be all better!!:yes:

Check to see if the Windows firewall is on. Also do you have any other firewall programs installed? Check ur Add and remove programs in ur control panel for any software that u did not install, Especially toolbars and any other stuff like wheather bug. If you don't have an antispyware program get on. I use spybot and adaware. you can get these free.

We had spybot for a while... when we moved here comcast had Norton. We've never had good luck with that one. It's gone now. I didn't see anything new. I had it check by date. Flock updated on Sept. 28th. And Jukebox was redone on Oct 9th. :dunno:

Well, he'll be home in an hour.... I'll let him figure it out.

Of course, you know what will happen? It will work fine. Just like when people have something they hear or feel on their car....it goes away as soon as you hit the shop!!:lmao:

Well i tried. Its hard to trouble shoot over the internet. Let me know if he is able to fix it.

No time to look at it yet.... but it IS still in a mood.

I'm thankful I do have an alternate way to email!:thmsup:
