I want a new knob. How do you remove the factory shift knob? Does it just unscrew? I just dont wana break the damn thing, lol.

the knob is clipped to the boot. you will have to hold the boot firmly and pull down. then you just unscrew the knob and replace

Actually, the boot is clipped to the knob:D. But everything else is right. Just giving you a hard time buddy:wave:.

Hey nasty, what are you getting man? Just curious. I want to get the '09 TSX knob/boot/ring, but haven't found the courage to part with $200 of my devalued money yet:lmao:.

The only factory-like install would be this:

A clean install of a round-based aftermarket knob would also require a round ring that you can somehow secure to the shaft by friction so it doesn't fall down, plus it matches the round base of basically all aftermarket knobs (they're either round or have a round base, like Momos). I've seen them, but don't remember where. Or you could buy the Acura one pictured above; costs $23. You'd have to remove the boot anyway to replace the 'clip', so you might as well replace the POS vinyl boot we have now.
The leather boot, knob, and ring would cost $175 shipped from Curry Acura. I'll probably take the plunge; just hope I can countersink the sucker without damaging the 'cap'. Take care.

+1. I want the same exact thing. The plastic trim area around the shifter looks cheap as hell. Anyone do this mod on the 8th gen automatic? I know someone did this on a 7th generation.
