I'm looking to buy some rims but I heard 17's are somewhat small for our wheelwells and 18's look decent.

I wanna get lightweight rims but at the same time I want the wheels to complement the fender. Idk if I said that right but yeah.

I know 17's are lighter and cheaper but 18's might look better but weight a slight more. What do u guys think? I also plan on lowering so yeah.

Now a days 17"s are just to small (unless you have some very nice oem's), go for 18s and up on aftermarkets!!!
Those work wheels I sent you the link to are on the guys ride in 19s and they even look small to be honest ...but 19 is prob as big as i would go ... Now to figure out how wide we can go tire wise is another question I'm curious about ...

from looking at the polls, looks like 18 is the way to go!

If you are wondering how 18's would look without dropping it, here's my accord...

You will be sorry if you go with 17's. If you plan on lowering it still go with 18's and just make the drop a little less agressive.. I will never lower my car again (too many problems and the HFP kit is too much $$) so I went with 19's I would have gone 20" but the tires are just so dam expensive:nuts:

I had painted my lower bumper which was OEM black and it chipped worse than it would have normally, the ride was rough, bottoming out all the time, premature tire wear (i didnt wanna spend another $300 on camber kits either). Of course I wasn't using high end springs either I think they were HK not sure

I was thinking about lowering it that is why i asked, but im not. But the car looks so much more aggressive and much better looking when lowered...

I lowered mine on 17" and it looks clean. I do need a rear camber kit I agree. But IMHO it looks funny if you can see to much of the caliper/rotor. For 18s’ or 19s’ to look clean I think the car should have a Big Brake Kit otherwise there is a lot of negative space when looking at the rims.

it's a must to lower! otherwise ur car looks like a monster truck lol.
I don't plan on touching the ground, jus wanna shorten the gaps.

I am also planning on adding the OEM front lip soon which will decrease my front end clearance. I don't want my car looking overly aggresive and tacky like some rice-burners you see out there :thumbsdow

actually it wont even do that. it gives the illusion ur car is lower. ur still gonna have big gaps. it all depends on how low u go. ricers tend to touch the ground and crap.

Would I be better off going with coil overs or regular lowering springs?

how much of a drop are we talking with 18s and a body kit -- without concern for speed bumps..

Wow nice lift kit ! ha ha ha Im just kidding.I added 17's rims to my focus .and factory rims were 15's car looked higher but I kept telling myself rims were taking up for of the wheel well now so its ok but I always wanted to lower her but never got around to doing it.Id rather lower car first then get rims.So I don't have a time frame were im driving around like Im in a SUV.LOL

Are there any problems with putting 18s on the 4cyl? Do mpgs go down or is it a strain on the motor? Do you have to lower it or get the HFP suspension kit with the 18s? I like both these rims and think both would look good on my car. 05 4dr satin silver. 17s on left and 18s on right.

to answer ur questions
-u won't lose MPG or put strain on the motor unless the tires are fatty (high profile)
-u don't have to lower it but it's recommended bc if u don't, ur car will look like a 4x4 monster truck. u dont even need to touch the ground, jus get rid of the gaps. again not required but recommended. also note, the HFP suspension wont work with ur i4. it only goes with v6.

i'd personally go with the silver stars but 17" are small. i'd go with 18" and up for aftermarket rims. they'll more likely be lighter so u should get like a very small increase in MPG bc of the lighter wheels. not sayin ur gonna go from 30 to 34 but u get my point.

I guess 17s are small but I think they will look better than the 16s I have on there now. I dont really want to go aftermarket and would like to keep it stock with some HFP. How much does it cost to lower a bit?
