I couldn't find the proper thread or section. Already looked down but nothing.

Does anyone know if I need to change out anything? fluid? I'm about to be up to my next oil change and I wanna get all this in one pop.

Change transmission fluid with new Honda fluid.

Check air filter.

That's it. Follow Maintenance minder.

If you're going by miles instead of MMS...

http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8859

@ 30,000 mi/48,000 km:

Rotate tires
Replace Oil and Filter
Replace air cleaner element
Inspect drive belt
Replace dust and pollen filter*1
Replace engine oil

But like Accordlover mentioned, replacing the tranny fluid would be a good idea. You might even want to look into replacing the tranny filter too.

That's it. Follow Maintenance minder.

Does the maintenance minder simply turn on when you hit a certain mileage?

Does anyone have a schedule for an 06?

Does anyone have a schedule for an 06?

You can access the maintenance schedule for older Hondas at the Honda owner's website... www.ahm-ownerlink.com

2006 Accords also had the Maintenance Minder.

You can find the maintenance schedule for the 2005 Accord in the owner's manual. All electronic versions of the owner's manuals are here:

I just had my 30K mile service done on my 2007 Accord and wanted to know if there was a way that I could confirm that they did indeed change out my dust and pollen filter. 50% of the service charge was for the labor and filter ($130.00) and I want to know for sure that they changed it.

This must be a joke! The filter itself can be acquired for $25. How did your dealer arrive at the $130 for the replacement of the filter?

To check and see if it has been replaced, the following info below was copied and pasted from another website so I take no credit for the info below:

1. Open glove box and empty the contents.
2. Unhook the damper on the right side of the glove box.
3. Squeeze together the side walls of the compartment to let the door go past the stops. The glove box will now pivot down and hang vertically by the two bottom hinges.
4. Remove the filter housing--I think there is a clip on either side. It looks like a plastic panel about 2 inches tall x 10 inches wide.
5. Remove the paper filter from the plastic housing.

You need to learn how to do this one yourself. I paid $18 for the filter and installed in about one minute. That includes getting all the crud out of the glovebox and putting it all back afterwards. You have been had by that dealer so don't let them do it a second time. There's a do it yourself with pictures on this site, search for it.

Agreed with the above 3 posts. Changing the cabin filter is an easy process and there's definitely no need to go to dealer for that. I'm totally NOT mechanically inclined and I changed the thing in less than 3 mins... thanks to this website and youtube! :D

BTW from namegoeshere's list I see "replace oil and filter" and "replace engine oil"... is there a difference between the two? I mean, don't we change the oil filter everytime we change oil and not just at 30k?

Also, what is this air cleaner element? Is it the engine air filter or something else? Can someone please explain?

I believe replace oil and engine oil is same thing. I talked to Honda techs and they said that's all I need with the others. The air cleaner element is the intake filter. If u have a cold air intake u don't need it lol. it's the filter that's in the airbox. i'm not sure how to explain.

i have also saved myself $75 because of this website and video. Thankyou Driveaccord!

Ouch!

I won't repeat what's already been said. Instead, here's the video so you can see how easy it is to change out the cabin filter.

I called "Honda Cars of McKinney" and confirmed with the Service Manager that they do indeed charge $139.00 to change out the cabin filter in a 2007 Accord. I followed the instructions that you guys posted and it took me a total of 2 minutes to pull the filter out, and confirm that they at least put a new one in, and then put the filter back in and shut the glove box. I told the Service Manager that and his only response was that if I could find a Honda Dealership in the area that did it for cheaper that he would match their price.

Surely there should be some recourse for consumers when they are just plain ripped off like this?? Please tell me there is! This is just crazy that they told me that it is "labor intensive" to get to the filter and that is why it cost so much to replace. Again, it took me a total of 2 minutes to pull it out, check it, and replace it.

The dealer can charge whatever they see fit. It's one of the ways they make up getting paid squat for warranty work. Chalk this one up to a sore arse and don't let it happen again. The same goes for other simple things like engine air filter, changing oil & filter, and other simple items. You came here to learn and you have. Use the knowledge in the future. They DID do the job so suck it up and go on.

There really is no recourse in this. Your best option would be to not deal with these clowns again. I don't see how a $20-$25 filter would yield $110 in labour for a service that takes 5 minutes tops.

At least they DID change the filter

Thanks, it makes sense now. Oh I don't have a cold air intake but if it's the filter in the airbox, then I did change mine at about 15k so I guess I'm set for a while. :)

mattharwell,
I'll second that don't deal with this particular dealer again if you really feel they are dishonest and being ripped off by them. I'd also ask for price quotes before having any dealer perform any service(unless it's warranty work) if I were you in the future. I asked about the price for 30k service last time I was at the dealer... and they wanted $589 for essentially topping off the fluids and checking over several things. I had no idea what were they thinking. :dunno:... But needless to say, I walked.
