Hi guys,

I did a pretty comprehensive search on lights and I found a lot of MOD posts. IE modding up fog lights - or HID Kits, retrofitting focused headlamps etc etc.

But I am not looking for aesthetics or cool factor - it is my wifes car and she says the visibility of the stock front lighting system is VERY lacking. She has been dealing with it for 3 years now but I am finally feeling guilty enough that I want to fix it right but I dont want to go crazy with cost.

so here are my options as I see it what do you guys recommend?

1. Install a PNP hid kit for $100-200

2. Just upgrade the lamps & fogs probably $250? (what do you all recommend - silverstar and from where? I like supporting forum vendors)

3. Install a PNP HID Kit and Fogs $400 :(

welcome to the board...

the silverstars may "seem" brighter, but they have a tint on the bulb, actually putting out less light. plus, they burn out more quickly. the most i ever got out of a silverstar was about 9-10 months max. i wouldn't waste your money on those, to be honest.

i don't know enough about the other options to really tell you what would be good for your application. what i CAN tell ou is there are alot of knowledgeable people on here that will see this and will come up with suggestions.

c'mon guys / gals, help the newbie out....

When I bought my car there was a cheap set of blue eBay bulbs in it and the light output was terrible. but, I bought some silverstars and it made a huge difference. I had HIDs on my last car so I am not content with that light output. So, I am having a retrofit done for me. It is costing me $535 and it will be done by HID Illusionz in Brooklyn, NY. If you really want to have nice and effective headlights I would recommend talking to these guys. Their website is http://hidillusionz.blogspot.com/, then go to the HID showcase and scroll down you will see a retrofit they did for our cars. The picture below is exactly what I am having done to mine.

As for the foglights, I would just put a set of yellow bulbs in there. Fog lights aren't really supposed to be that bright.

I installed these and aimed my headlights a little higher. The light output is noticebly brighter and the bulbs are not tinted blue. It would be a good idea to do an electrical systems check of the car. Maybe the alternator or a weak battery is causing the dimness. Good luck.

I was also unhappy with the lighting performance when I picked up my car last year, even when compared to a 10 years old Integra.

I then tried HIR bulbs, still not happy, so I went the PnP (see my signature), been very happy every since.
