On the 2nd gen Odyssey (99-04), there was a row of lights across the entire rear end as many of you know. Of those lights, all four light up with the headlights, but only the outer two light up as brake lights (plus the roof mounted CHMSL). Odyssey owners noticed this and said it was dangerous - the brake lights were really hard to see - so they made the lights in the center light up with the brake as well.
I was thinking, I want to do this with the Accord. Does anyone know how? I have a wiring diagram and it shows black as ground, and then there is a red/black and a green. I believe the green is for the second filament (stop lamp) and the red/black is for the first filament (taillamp). Princess, can you confirm this?
I would need to get a new bulb socket and run a spliced wire from the green one into the trunk tail lights. Anyone know where to get the bulb socket? Should I just buy the one from Honda that's for the outer lights? My concern is that I would need to modify the taillight housings to fit them in - something I'm not really keen on doing. Also, what gauge wire would I need to run? Can I use the current power and ground wire and just add the wire for the second filament, or will it be better to run a power wire spliced from the outer tails, and ground it to the trunk?
Any other tips or comments?
