Has anyone here successfully use the Live Search cash back from Ebay to purchase HFP wheels and tires? I'm just trying to find out if it is legit or a gimmick.

Thanks!

Yes, it works. I just got my cashback for the deck lid spoiler purchase.

30%, but $200 is maximum amount of cash back you can get from a single transaction.

Basically. And you're limited to 12 transactions total, annually I believe.

JC

offer is 30% cash back on ebay purchases with upto $200 cash back max.
catch is, has to be a buy-it now auction, and accept paypal as the main payment. and also you have to use live.com to click on the 30% cash back offer. and there a bunch of little stuff in the fine print like you must search thru live.com to find the auction or something like that.
but its an offer coming from microsoft, so its a legit deal.

used it for a new mountain bike, got a max of 250 off at the time (just deposited in bank)
and ebay only allows its use certain random days (not an all day every day thing)

^ thanks man!

Regarding what to buy... good to use this on big-ticket consumable items or durable/capital goods you would otherwise buy (ie. tires, wheels, car'mods, stereo-components, NAV/GPS, Valentine One radar detector, computer/notebook, LCD/Plasma HDTV, Bluray DVD player, home-theater/surround-sound, gaming-consoles, UPS sureg-protector/power-source, iPhone/cell'phone, digital-camera, NEW authentic/genuine name-brand/designer goods, furniture, collectibles/antiques, building/fabricating materials, tools, equipment, solar-panels, appliances, hobby-items, toys, etc'...)!

X'mas & birfdays... ;)

(For-the-record... Black Friday sucks, period. Avoid the let-downs & crazy-time and just use this promo'!)

After paying for the shipping but getting the $200 off from live cash back, I figure I would save roughly $150 on HFP 19" wheels compared to getting them from my local dealer. Now, to me it really isn't worth the hassle because:

1) If there's something wrong with the wheels such as dents or scratches, it would be a hassle to return them.

2) in case there's any kind of vibration after installation, local dealer will work with you to correct the issue. Not so if you guy them online.

3) Having to haul the wheels to a dealer or tireshop to get them installed will be hassle unless you have a truck or suv. I don't.

I think I'm going to pass on this deal for these wheels and just get them thru my local dealer. Using this discount on another item would be fine.

Did you factor in taxes as well?

off topic stuff, but i used it to buy a new ipod but after the transaction, i still dont see the cashback amount on my live.com account. Does anyone have that problem?

for the lip spoiler, do u have to drill holes to install? coz i see u can use double sided tape, but the item also include screws and drill template. dont really want to drill holes on the trunk just coz later on if i want to remove the spoiler.

You don't have to drill holes.

did you get a message after purchasing the ipod? You should've received "You've earned a cashback" message and a link to the live.com account.

next_milenium... regarding the HFP 19" wheels, do this...

Example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/19-10-SPOKE-GRAY-GENUINE-HONDA-HFP-ALLOY-WHEELS-NEW_W0QQitemZ260301124486QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item2 60301124486&_trkparms=72%3A1420%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

$1250 (buy-it-now)
$117 (s/h)

Ask the seller to make the auction into (2) separate 'buy-it-now' auctions for $625/each + 58.50/each s/h. Offer them additional $25 for their troubles, etc'. Tell you need it this way & will (2) separate payments, or this/that. . .

The $625 x 30%-off = $187.50 discount per-set, thus total $375 savings for (4) HFP 19" wheels.

$1250 - $375 = $875 discounted price + 117 s/h = $992/shipped

There are (3) other vendors on ebay w/ buy-it-now' HFP 19" wheels, each w/ different prices & s/h. But factor in the 30% discount in all of them, the bottom-line then becomes literally within $2-$4 of each-other, meaning the sellers have factored in the MS Live.com cash-back into the pricing! ;)

The best price ANYWHERE for HFP 19" wheels is $1200 + s/h @ www.accessories-honda.com.

My preferred vendor, www.magauto.com, has them for $1347/shipped.

... for the lip spoiler, do u have to drill holes to install? coz i see u can use double sided tape, but the item also include screws and drill template. dont really want to drill holes on the trunk just coz later on if i want to remove the spoiler.I've did it w/o the hardware & hole-drilling on the trunk deck-lid. The 3M VHB mounting tape is adequate for this application (IMHO), if installed properly (clean-surface, warm-temperature, proper pressure for complete-adhesion). Sure the 'search' to find further insights on other threads, instead of getting off-topic here!

Reason I guess must be the credit crunch. Running out of money to meet payroll and nobody lends money anymore... so paypal/buy-now etc cash programs benefit because they put money directly and instantly in their bank accounts.

It takes a bit for microsoft to authorize the cashback, to make sure you arnt buying gift cards or cash on ebay etc. you will see the amount when you go to the live.net cashback site with a countdown of 60 days till you can deposit into a bank account or paypal

60 days for cashback to be available.

cashback will show 1-2 days after cleared payment (some payment methods like eCheck take 2-3 days to clear).

side note, its getting harder to get the cashback banner to show on ebay after linking in from live.com. have to try several times. :(
