Anyone else from FL here?
I will be getting my new '04 Accord EX-L V6 Sedan on Saturday, if all goes as planned. Read all about it here. (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=235) :D

Now, I'd like to get the extended warranty, 7yr 100k miles, but refuse to be overcharged for it. The research I have done seems to suggest that FL dealers cannot negotiate the price on the warranties per FL law. Apparently, they are handled as insurance policies and thus heavily regulated by the state. Pretty bogus if you ask me... I have a call in to my dealer to see what price he can get me, but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyway, I have seen several places online where I can get the exact same HondaCare warranty for much less. Some of these are actual Honda dealers in different states.

Now it seems to me that as long as they are willing to sell it to us in FL, we should be all set. They mail you the docs. and you then have an official HondaCare warranty which must be honored by any Honda dealer. But I have heard some people say that only the dealers are authorized to sell the warranties in FL. Again, sounds bogus to me.

Several Floridians have purchased their warranties for their Pilots online, and they say everything went smooth. See this thread. (http://www.hondapilot.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4719&highlight=florida+warranty)

So, any thoughts about this?
I have sent an email to the out of state dealer I am thinking about getting the warranty from (CurryHondaCare (http://www.curryhondacare.com)) asking for some clarification.

Thanks!

Personnally, I think that extended warranty would be a waste of money cuz if they sell it to you, keep in mind they must be 150% certain it's not gonna break.

If you take it anyways, I don't understand why FL Honda dealers wouldn't honor it.

They want you to take it because if they have to fix something, they are paid by Honda to fix the problem and it gives them job.

Car companies are smart enough to calculate the risks so making warranties not "gambling" but more an "income" taking advantage of those who feel insecure...

??? Do you have life, health, homeowners or renters insurance???? It's all about risk.....
A vehicle is a large investment....... If you have 5-6k just laying around to repair engine or trans when it goes out then don't buy it but if not then consider it..... Alot of people live pay check to paycheck and another $5 a week is nothing to keep that warm and fuzzy feeling....
Also car dealers make a percentage off of extended warranties the warranty price just like the car is negotiable.. The warranty is underwritten by a insurance company.... Heck dealers and manufacturers don't want that RISK either.

P.S. They do break occasionally, if they didn't then we wouldn't have all these forums to talk about the problems.:) :)

If not then their paid by YOU!!!:) :)

A good ? for any Honda tech out there..... Would you rather be paid straight flat rate to R and R engine or warranty rate?

Ok here is my opinion.

Me, I pay 200$ a month to be fully insured for my car. (I don't even have the choice it's the law). I am insured by a private company that insures me if I have an accident or whatever. in fact, the insure the risk.

That is good to me when you have a car that worth +- 20k.

But , my point is , if HONDA sell a warranty for a product THEY made, that means they really believe it's not gonna break or they would have to pay. This is not about risk of getting an accident, it's about calculated risks. I mean, they tested their car before. They know a Honda genuine timing belt is good up to 100k clicks, so that's why they give a guarantee, and that guarantee increases the value of the car, wich pays for the 1 on 1000 that his timing belt would break at 95k clicks.

So if they Calculate it's riskier to give a "free" guarantee up to 160k clicks, they're gonna sell it. That will pay for the little things that could break in 7 years but at the end of the line, they make money with that.

It's the same thing if you win at the lottery, the 2$ you paid worth the ticket, but only IF you win....
