As there has been interest in aluminum racing/sport-style pedals for the Accord, I mentioned this to www.autovation.net. They proposed a Group Buy w/ applicable discount for all those interested in their lineup of race/sport pedals as well as heel-guards (both customizable w/ options).

Here's the dealio'...
www.autovation.net

(the web-site is not updated w/ the most current/new customization options, thus see PDF linkie' below)

Link to PDF file (must down-load to view) w/ most current images: AutoVation race/sport pedals updated info'/images (www.plunder.com/-download-ynS__8GcuEGsgtqyI9SxBw.htm)

2-4 sets - 10% discount
5-9 sets - 20% discount
10-19 sets - 30% discount
20-49 sets - 35% discount
> 50 sets - 40% discount

Upon completion of the group buy, all pedal sets will be shipped out within 5 business days. This is assuming under 50 sets, since each set is custom produced we cannot make more than 10 sets per day. They will then be shipped via USPS Priority Mail (2-3 day delivery). Shipping is $7.50 in the USA and $12.50 to Canada. Of course we will do the drop shipment and ship directly to the customer along with sending them the tracking number.

Here is the list of pedal options, each customer must choose 3 items:

1. THICKNESS:
All pedals must be ordered either as a lightweight or endurance option. The lightweight is 1/8" thick and the endurance is 3/16" thick. Note all pedal are 6061 aluminum although we could make titanium at a significantly higher cost (about 5x the cost of aluminum). Lightweight is the standard option while the endurance option is additional +$35 retail.

2. THROUGH HOLES:
"Through holes" or "No through holes" (all pedals currently pictured on our website are the "through holes" design). When ordered with no through holes, you cannot see the pedal underneath (I prefer this option myself). The pedals are dimensionally identical but the "no through hole" option leaves some material at the bottom of the grip holes that are not used as screw holes.

3. SURFACE FINISH:
a. Grid - +$50 retail
b. Grid "plus" - We do not have a name for these yet but they grip so much you do not want to drive with them while barefoot. They look similar to the grid design but each "grid" is a pyramid in itself. - +$50 retail
c. Competition Matte - standard option [$79]
d. Competition Machined - standard option [$79]
e. Cleat - Only available on endurance option - +$50 retail
f. Block - Only available on endurance option - +$50 retail
g. Insert - +$30 retail
h. Pocket - Custom programming required to fit customer emblem - +$25 retail (can be added with any pedal option)
i. Grid Insert - rubber inserts in grid pattern - +$65 retail
j. Jewel - You have to see it to believe it. - +$250 retail

"+" = standard pedal-set price ($79) + "$XX"

Notes:

- Request for the Grid design on the gas pedal and footrest pedal if that option was ordered: we can do that at no extra cost if the customer orders the grid design.

- In response to customer requests, we have created a lot more different designs and options to order. These options have not been rolled out onto the website yet but they will be rolled out by the end of the year. With that noted, I would like to offer these options in this group buy.

- Heel-guard 'pocket' design to be used w/ HFP or other emblem/badge acquired through AutoVation (at cost) or provided by self (no Honda/Acura logos or trademark/name-brand custom-engravings can be done by AutoVation due to obvious legalities.

Custom 'pocket' reference pics (can be on pedal and/or heel-guard):

If you have relevant questions, PLEASE contact AutoVation directly (to get the best answer in a timely manner), as well as to keep this thread clear & void of confusion. Use the web-site as a pricing guide (ie. standard pedals are at a fixed price, optional style/inserts add to cost).

IMHO, keep-it-simple if you want high-quality/custom/race/sport pedals @ a somewhat affordable price. If you want more customization/personalization, then pay-to-play w/ the other options available by AutoVation (ie. grid, inserts, etc'). The product is second-to-none, as I've acquired (2) sets in the past for my other Honda/Acura vehicles.

Simply state your exact interest in this/that pedal-set and/or heel-guard next to your name on the ongoing list...

What is the difference between Insert($35) and grid insert($65)? Whats the install like for these? I am assuming that these do not go over factory pedal. How hard is it to remove the factory rubber? I am also assuming that you will have to drill holes to put these on. Does it come with all the proper screws and bolts? How do you install the foot rest? Is it just screwed into the floor?

Sorry for all the questions.

I bought these a while back and the clutch pedal had a scratch on the bottom right of the pedal around one of the holes and they wouldn't do anything to help me out. They wouldn't even send extra matching screws for the install. (I think you only get one to mess up and w/having to drill the holes it's a PITA.)

Osiris- You recommended the Acura pedals in another post and I'm going to take mine out and go that route cause the gas pedal is a lot longer. There are predrilled holes in the pedals I assume the Acurs ones would use??? I also bought the heel rest from Autovation b/c my foot was wearing into the floor after a week and the holes in it are so deep and sharp they catch on the heel of your shoes. I haven't really like mine.

To fix that issue I'm in contact w/a company to custom make aluminum diamond plate floor mats. I had them in my civic and they have killer grip and always looked great. I inquired about a group buy also so hopefully I can get back to everyone interested.

Iinstall is frustrating as HELL!!! Removing factory rubber is easy. Drillng holes will make you want to take a match to your car. Footrest has screws that go throught the mat and a threaded washer type piece with claws that wont rotate once it's gripped the bottom of the mat.

What is the difference between Insert($35) and grid insert($65)?Insert is the rubber 'nubs on the non-accel' pedals, for added grip/comfort. Generally, Honda/Acura Type-R models have these on their OEM pedals. Grill-Insert is the combo' of the grid-appearance w/ the rubber 'nubs attached to the holes. Best of both worlds, for those who want both.
Whats the install like for these?Installation requires basic/small hand-tools (screwdrivers, pliers/wrench, power-drill). It generally takes 30-45 minutes on other sports-cars (due to the seat & steering-wheel in the way), but the Accord's seat can be pushed back & steering-wheel can be raised, all giving adequate access to the driver's foot-well area. Using a right-angle drill-attachment/accessory (~$10 at Harbor Freight, Big Lots, Sears, etc') can make the install even easier, perhaps 15-30 minutes (assuming competency w/ power-drills, proper-sized bits, and dexterity).

I emphatically recommend this right-angle drill-attachment for those who aren't overly skilled/patient w/ using a power-drill. Find a neighbor, friend, or local shop who will let you borrow theirs if you aren't keen towards buying one (they do come in handy for future projects/tasks around the house or garage).

As w/ most D.I.Y jobs, it's a matter of having the R-I-G-H-T tools at-hand. Otherwise, the install can be frustrating for those who aren't too adept w/ using a power-drill and/or screwdriver/socket.
I am assuming that these do not go over factory pedal. That's correct, for the most part. The rubber for the dead/footrest pedal & accel' is not to be removed, the custom aluminum pedal fits over them directly (then fastened on w/ the hardware). The rubber from the clutch/brake pedals is to be removed, and then the custom aluminum pedals fit over (fastened on w/ the hardware).
How hard is it to remove the factory rubber?A flathead-screwdriver or butter-knife can slide off the rubber-covers from the clutch/brake pedals w/ ease.
I am also assuming that you will have to drill holes to put these on.That is correct. As these are sport/track inspired pedals, they need to properly be fastened to the stock pedal shafts/assembly. The slide-on/clip-on pedal covers are easier to install, but their fitment leaves a lot to be desired, as there isn't that ideal/snug feel to them; and in emergency situations or demanding scenarios, worrying about loose/shaking pedals should be the least of your worries.
Does it come with all the proper screws and bolts?Yes, all the needed hardware (self-tapping screws, nuts/bolts, template, and instructions) are included. It's literally a turn-key/simple-D.I.Y. install (nothing extra needs to be purchased).
How do you install the foot rest?It is fastened over the existing dead/foot-rest pedal using the included hardware.
Is it just screwed into the floor? It is fastened to the existing dead/foot-rest pedal, so there is no need to drill into the floorboard.
Sorry for all the questions. No, man. I'm appreciative of the interest & curiosity you have. This will offer insight to many others who will likely have the same questions.

O.k., so here are my recommendations:

Lightweight Racing (regular thickness)... $79 [retail]
Grid-Insert Series (ALL pedals will be Grid-pattern or Grid "plus", Inserts on all pedals except accel' -> for safety)... $65 [retail]
Net Total... $144
~10 person Group-Buy discount (-30%)... -$43.20
Final Total... $101.80 + actual shipping

-OR-

Lightweight Racing (regular thickness)... $79 [retail]
Competition Series: Matte -or- Machined ('machined' is my preference!)... $0.00 [retail]
Net Total... $79
~10 person Group-Buy discount (-30%)... -$23.70
Final Total... $55.30 + actual shipping

Obviously, those who wish for a more custom/unique/personal look & style, they should opt for the other offerings w/ additional add-ons! Down-load the PDF file linked above to fully appreciate the offerings (HQ images attached). The custom options aren't available elsewhere, so for those want to be the only one's around w/ the distinctive look, this would be the way to go.

And, the optional heel-guard (fits over existing OEM floor-mat) completes the race/track enthusiast look & also is eligible for the Group-Buy discount(s) [retail: $69 (-30% discount) = $48.30!]. I'm not sure if it can be acquired in Grid-pattern, but I will inquire... :naughty:

perhaps 15-30 minutes (assuming competency w/ power-drills, proper-sized bits, and dexterity).

I consider myself pretty damn good w/tools and everyone I know who has installed pedals would agree it's a royal PITA. Sounds simple, but doing it in 15 mintues would be world class.

This company gave me TERRIBLE service so I'm warning everyone out there. This is my last post on here, sorry for ranting on but I'd be a jerk if I didn't say anything. Purchase what you like and good luck.

EvolNtent, sorry to hear of your past personal experience w/ www.autovation.net.

I've had (2) purchases from them in the past, each one was overall near ideal/perfect/flawless. So, that's my personal experience. About 5-6 of my local real-life friends have also done business w/ them, w/o any issues/problems.

Also, on www.nsxprime.com, AutoVation has a virtually spotless record in terms of product, customer-service, and support. The only known complaint (other than yours) was from an owner who wasn't pleased w/ what he got (simply that he didn't realize these were machined aluminum pedals, not the actual pedal-arm/assembly). AutoVation offered him a complete refund/etc'. And he wasn't even pleased w/ that. He essentially wanted something that wasn't even being offered, so his dissatisfaction was unfounded.

Why do I even mention all this? I have no business/financial/personal stake w/ AutoVation. I'm not even buying a set for my '08 Accord sedan in this Group-Buy. This is just an initiative I took for the community. I truly have nothing to gain or lose from this venture. And thusly, this is why I am all about complete/total/100% TRANSPARENCY in the whole matter.

However, I can't comment on your situation w/ them, nor will I get into what you could've done & how you could've done it... it's your own personal affair, your own business, and your own deal between you & them.

What I can do is add that I wasn't content w/ an original set of pedals I received over 3 yrs ago. AutoVation sent me another set & I sent the undesired set back to them. The replacement set fulfilled my expectations. That's all there was so it.

If anyone has any further questions or seek more insight & so forth, simply message me & I'll provide the contact details/info' for the owner/president. He's a very hands-on/interactive individual who relishes customer-support/marketing/client-interaction as well as chit-chatting about cars, any cars!

Regarding the install' being '15-30 minutes'... that is w/ the proper tools at hand:

power-drill
correct-sized quality drill-bit(s)
right-angle drill attachment
philips screw-driver(s) & hand-held socket-wrench

I've done my own installs, and some for timid/non-hands'on friends. There isn't much of a learning-curve. It's very straight forward. If you are really meticulous but unorganized, it can take you 45+ minutes (getting tools all together, figuring out which/what self-tapping screw and/or nut/bolt goes where, unsteady hand w/ the template to mark-off potential screw-holes, inexperience w/ a power-drill -> low-speed FTW, etc').

So, long-story-short/in-a-nutshell... I give my word & commitment that you'll be completely satisfied w/ your new custom race-pedals set from AutoVation. I put my name, credibility, and standing in the community on it.

I didn't set a time-table on this Group-Buy, but obviously time is of the essence. I will get a deadline from AutoVation, as otherwise an open-ended offering is unheard of & unreasonable to expect from the organizer(s) and manufacturer/seller. If interest doesn't pick-up in due-time, stick a fork in this Group-Buy... it's done, as far as I'm concerned. The alternatives are obvious, and that's what people will have to go through, desired or undesired.

That's all I can offer or say. If you have any further questions, feel free to post here or message me, or even contact AutoVation directly.

ATTENTION:

Thanks for the interest in this Group-Buy... (about 4-5 actual parties showing commitments to buy, thus far, according to my records/messages). I will be setting an end-date to this very soon, unless a fury of activity develops. All good things must come to an end!
