We all know the good old jack-up-the-front-and-let-'er-spill method. Wouldn't that leave some of the old oil in the oil pan since it's tilted? When you bring your car to a shop, it's always level, lifted up or on the ground. So, is it a good idea to put the car on jack stands, front and back, to change the oil?

Yes, I think it's better for the car to be completely leveled.

That explains how I had a few ounces more then full when I filled the oil up with 4.5 quarts when only lifting the right front of the car and doing my last oil change. The dipstick was above the F) mark by 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch after emptying exactly 4.5 quarts but since I use a few ounces (only) during a 5000 mile OCI, I just leave the extra bit of oil in. I checked it about 3 weeks to a month ago and it was right at full and my MMS is at 40% now.

fill a shallow baking pan with water.
now lift up one side of the baking pan. does the water spill out?
theres your answer.
All the Hondas that I've changed the oil on had oil pans in which the drain bolt was facing the back of the car and at such an angle, if anything, the oil would pool around the opening - flat or with the front end only lifted.
I don't really thinks its an issue.

I've tried a few variations in changing oil on my past/current Honda/Acura vehicles (ie. on 2 ramps, on a single ramp, on 2 or 4 jack-stands, on a single jack-stand, on a floor-jack on a single side, etc')... surprising was that the difference in quantity of oil easily removed was generally negligible.
If someone truly wants to extract as much oil as they can from their vehicle (cleanly/efficiently/effortlessly), their best option is this or something analogous to it:
Hand Pump Oil / Liquid Extractor (www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+maintenance/oil+changes/hand+pump+oil+-+liquid+extractor.do)
Using this, you can change your oil 2x per single single filter change which is what many enthusiast do who go by time-intervals over mileage-intervals, as their vehicles may not be driven too much. . .

A slight angle back is the best at least on the 4 banger...
