Just bought a new 2005 LX, 4cyl coupe, man trans. Ordered the AEM CAI, but the seller is asking if my LX has a IAT sensor or Massive AIr sensor? He is concerned with install the "check engine" light will go on...Anyone have any experience with this or know if the 05 LX has the sensors he's asking bout? - MC

yeh you want to make sure you buy the cai needed for the differ i4 application, such as mass air flow sensor, or if you are PZEV, etc..umm i would go to www.aempower.com and search there.

The manual didnt mention IAT or Massive Air sensor, I would assume that means I'm ok..

if you have a maf on your car dont get a intake.
your cel will go on with the message of being too lean.
also dont get headers as well someone fried thier primary o2 sensor this way.
as for AEM it says except w/ maf.

since you have an MT, you're good to go. 4 cyl MT's are only LEV and do not have a MAF.

My 4 banger Ranger 2k has a MAF sensor on it. And I changed it over to a cone filter at 40k miles. It now has 118k on it with no ill affects. :dunno:

The MAF on the Accord is placed somewhere along the intake tract before the throttle body IIRC...AEM doesn't have a location to put this thing back, so you have to get rid of the sensor if you do get a CAI. Then the CEL will come on.

Well if you have a MAF you will have to make sure its still in the intake system. I had to buy a bracket to put on the MAF on the Ranger and then put the cone filter on there.
I dont see what the problem is. If you have a MAF it needs to stay in the system. A simple mod. and Ive yet to see a fresh air or ram air system push more air than a stock MAF can deal with. Now turbo's and super chargers can indeed demand you put a high volume MAF in and injectors possibly.
Scratching head. Why would somebody want to do a induction mod without knowing whats in there induction tube/duct and not being able to tell looking at it. :naughty:

its been done before. the engine runs lean and the CEL comes one. something to do with the flow characteristics in the intake tubing or the amount of airflow that the MAF reads is incorrect.

how/where was the MAF on your ranger mounted? this is where it is on the Accord.

Basicly the same. Right after the air filter. I left the stock duct. I could have put a new tube on it and modded in the MAF and theres another sensor in the duct.
Most MAF problems Ive been involved in began after somebody thought it needed cleand. Wham its bad

I believed that the sensor should be around the throttle body or the stock intake area. Since you ordered AEM CAI, should not have any problem, I don't know if there is any difference in term of sensor. I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX Sedan 4cyl. F22B2, I have AEM CAI, didn't knock the "check engine" light.

I'm not sure of the location of the sensor but I have seen other 7th gens try this and every one of them will trip the CEL.

its right after the filter on the 7th gen I4 automatics.

what is the percentage that the CAI would knock the "CEL"?

i havent heard of a sucessful story of a 7th gen I4 auto (PZEV/SULEV version) with an intake....so i'll say 100% chance of getting a CEL with aftermarket intake on the 7th gen PZEV/SULEV I4.

Heres the monster that is messing me up. And it is indeed mounted in a sized compressed part of the duct leaving the filter box.

Heres a MAF on a 5at
You will see it right infront of the duct hose on the filter box. You will notice theres nothing there on your box.

If i had your airbox and no MAF'er there would be a CIA on that can instead of a K&N lay in filter. :(
