Has anyone had any problems with reversing when the car is -5 and below?? the last few mornings ive put it in reverse and it just revs really high once or twice, and then after a few seconds it will start to move... i thought i was putting it in 6th at first (being 430 am when i go to work, so being tired that was a possibility) but not this morning. i put it in gear, tried backing up twice it only revd and on the 3rd or 4th try it started to move, and i mean it revd past 4k....any ideas?? should i call honda?
The 6MT has a slightly different lock out mechanism to engage reverse than the 5MTs. The manual specifically states to put the shifter in neutral, pull it all the way towards the 1-2 shift gate first, and then push it the other way towards the 5-6 shift gate and engage reverse.
I've experienced stubborn reverse engagement on occassion and this has helped.
Also, it could be a typical manual transmission quirk. Not only do I push it towards the 1-2 shift gate, I slide it up into first gear and then over to reverse. This prevents the idler gear from crunching when trying to engage reverse.
Oh... interesting, maybe i should read a manual or 2 lol :P Ill try that over the next couple days see if thats the case. Thanks alot trip!
