My parents just bought a 2005 Honda Accord and it has a stock keyless entry/alarm system. They got it off a non-honda lot and they were told it didnt have an alarm, well it does. My mom dislikes the fact that every time she unlocks or locks the doors, the horn beeps. It can be very annoying when we get home late, and some how she turns the alarm on before I get my door shut and either it goes off, or she hits the button and it beeps several times. Is there any way to turn the honking off? Not realy the alarm, but the honking when you unlock and lock the doors. The key itself had the buttons on it, it isnt a separate key chain thing. Any help what so ever would be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance.

That is not factory alarm characteristics. The only time it should honk is if you press the lock button twice. What you are describing sounds like an aftermarket alarm was installed.

Do you see any other LEDs blinking other than the one in the radio and the one below the gas gauge? If you do it's something aftermarket that should be programmable. If not then it is from the factory and the manual is no help. (Flame suit on) I opted for the add on KARR system and programmed it so the horn doesn't honk while locking or unlocking but the lights still flash.

Ok, so there is a light blinking near the drivers side door at times when you lock the door. Do you think it is best to take it somewhere and have it removed because it will randomly turn on and the alarm will go off while driving, if it is aftermarket, how will I know what kind and get some sort of help with it. Thanks again for all the help.

Search up under the dash for the brain (look for out of place wires and trace them from the ignition) and try to figure out what type it is and then possibly find some instructions for it. Someone did a hack job because it is not supposed to go off while the car is running.

If you take it someplace to be removed, make sure it is a reputable place because there might be a lot of wires hacked up and they will have to correct all that.

can you not use the key to unlock the doors and press the lock button inside the car and close the door to lock the doors..

Well it seems that if we lock the doors whether with the key or with the button on the inside, or the button on the key, the alarm sets itself. Even while it is running, this has happened twice today, and has gotten my dad very frustrated. I thought it was because the key had the buttons on it, and we might accidently be pressing it, but randomly enough, while driving the red blinking light to say the alarm is active will come on. I think the best thing we can do is get it looked at. Thanks for everyones help.
