Hi all! First post. Here goes:

1986 Accord DX, AT, AC, CC, PS, PB, Carb'd, 135k miles.

Turns over fine/regular speed but will not start in the morning. Checked for spark w/timing light on coil wire while cranking (none). Checked coil, igniter, and removed radio suppressor. It's got new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, and fuel pump, The car WILL start like there are no problems if the weather is warmer, as in the afternoon. Drives great, no problems. The next morning, she's dead again.

Any ideas? Many thanks!!!

Tom

Alright, now it won't start at ALL :( I have had these things checked: coil, igniter/ignition module, changed the distro cap, and it ran before without the radio condensor removed. Reading the manual, it also says to check the reluctor gap, which SEEMS alright. I get the proper voltage at the wire ends, so there doesn't seem to be a wiring problem. The power fuses are good. I get no spark with my timing light connected.

Would replacing the entire distributor help? I haven't checked the spark plugs (which were new, but since I don't get spark out of the coil, I ruled them out).

What am I missing???

Did the PM from my prince help???? Is it back on the road???

Our oldest daughter didn't listen to Dad last year when her Civic's alternator died. He told her to spend the extra & buy a Honda one. About 8 months later the "checkers" one quit too. In the mean time, she'd lost the reciept & moved. So she couldn't even take advantage of the "lifetime" warrenty!

We've cars that thought they had to copy each other. One Summer we decided to take his '87 HB to Disneyland because the day before we were to leave my '86 LXi's Alt. light started flashing. He didn't want to rebuild it before our trip. A few days later, (on the way home) almost at the top of the "grapevine" on I5, near Magic Mt. the light came on in the HB!! We took the next exit, where there was a Honda Dealer in Valencia. Then went to Sears & bought a couple of tooks needed. He rebuilt that Alt. under a shade tree in 105 degree temps. Sometimes things are just meant to be!! (He rebuilt mine as soon as we got home) The nice thing about the Honda ones is that many can be rebuilt instead of replaced!

We've also had completely different types of cars do this. They all have their own personality!

Well, it took a new (used) distributor, but it fired right up. I have a feeling that something in the distributor housing was causing a short or open or something, and it took out my new ignitor. I got my paws on a distributor complete w/ignitor and VROOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Many thanks to all who helped, especially Princess and Hubby!
