View Full Version : Are splash guards in or out?

Just joined the forum with the recent purchase of Polished Metal 2009 Accord coupe. I'm thinking about getting the factory splash guards. I saw them on a sedan the same color as mine and since they are black, they are not very noticeable. Are others putting them on coupes? Will it be considered or look dorky? I don't want to mess up an otherwise great looking machine.

No rock chips, tar or road grime stuck to the fenders/doors of my Accord make the splash guards MORE than worth it. My cars body and paint behind each mud flap is flawless.

I value my splash guards. It is very functional and looks good with my TW.

Have had splash guards on ALL of my cars. The funtionality is the important thing.

Sounds good. My local dealer is running a 25% off online orders deal.
Thanks for the input.

Mine came with them. Since I have a black coupe, they blend very well. I left them on because they are pretty effective, once you see how much dirt/abuse the edges of those splash guards take, you will know. If you have snowy/salty winters, you definitely want them. A few members here have painted them body color, and they look really good, you might want to check those out.

The protection they provide should outweigh their looks, but they look decent too.

Definitly well worth it, was the only add-on option I had added when I bought my car.

Functional investment. I got mine installed after I purchased my vehicle. I left them black on my bbp coupe and I like the contrast. Some like them to match the color of the car, that works too. It's a matter of preferance as far as color.

Just add a deluxe set of curb scrapers with them and you're all set! :lmao:

(I've always had and appreciated them on every vehicle.)

i don't care for the looks, but it keeps my car slightly cleaner.

Anyone have pictures of their painted splash guards? I'd love to see (especially in PMM color).

I purchased and installed mine shortly after I purchased the car. This is my first winter with them on and man I'm glad I have them. IMO, you can't go wrong.... unless you plan on putting on a body kit.

For splash guards, I'd recommend aftermarket units. There's nothing special about "official Honda" splash guards except for shoveling out more $$... for several pieces of simple molded plastic.

I bought aftermarket guards for my 7th Generation two years ago, and they look identical to OEM, were just as easy to install, and they've performed exactly the same as anything I could have bought from Honda. And I probably saved 40 bucks or so.

I bought the official Honda fog light kit and rear wing spoiler, but for splash guards? Why would I pay more than I have to for something like that?

Whoa, I must be the odd man out for sure. Mines came with splash guards but I took them off a few days after I purchased my Accord. Its just not my cup of tea.

I am with you...I actually forced the dealer to take them off...

They may be functional but they take away from the look of the car...

There is a reason Honda intentionally doesn't show them on any of their glam shots...

I actually prefer how Nissan and Infiniti are now integrating the splash guards on their models...

Well, I went ahead an put them on my coupe after seeing them on a PMM sedan at work. They blend in well with the color and are barely noticeable. We've had quite a bit of rain lateley, and I like NOT seeing all that crud stuck on the rear fenders.
