View Full Version : Are splash guards in or out?
Iguana 10-29-2008, 12:18 PM Just joined the forum with the recent purchase of Polished Metal 2009 Accord coupe. I'm thinking about getting the factory splash guards. I saw them on a sedan the same color as mine and since they are black, they are not very noticeable. Are others putting them on coupes? Will it be considered or look dorky? I don't want to mess up an otherwise great looking machine.
lebomb 10-29-2008, 12:41 PM No rock chips, tar or road grime stuck to the fenders/doors of my Accord make the splash guards MORE than worth it. My cars body and paint behind each mud flap is flawless.
sonitex 10-29-2008, 02:30 PM I value my splash guards. It is very functional and looks good with my TW.
EliteXen 10-29-2008, 03:03 PM i think they look great, definitely in and functional to boot
PanzerLeader 10-29-2008, 04:19 PM Have had splash guards on ALL of my cars. The funtionality is the important thing.
Iguana 10-29-2008, 10:08 PM Sounds good. My local dealer is running a 25% off online orders deal.
Thanks for the input.
woody4364 10-30-2008, 12:15 AM I think they look good.
nighthawkcoupe 10-30-2008, 01:49 AM Mine came with them. Since I have a black coupe, they blend very well. I left them on because they are pretty effective, once you see how much dirt/abuse the edges of those splash guards take, you will know. If you have snowy/salty winters, you definitely want them. A few members here have painted them body color, and they look really good, you might want to check those out.
Wardster 10-30-2008, 03:44 AM The protection they provide should outweigh their looks, but they look decent too.
08coupex 10-30-2008, 04:25 AM Definitly well worth it, was the only add-on option I had added when I bought my car.
09 ACCORD COUPE 11-21-2008, 11:04 PM Functional investment. I got mine installed after I purchased my vehicle. I left them black on my bbp coupe and I like the contrast. Some like them to match the color of the car, that works too. It's a matter of preferance as far as color.
itstheo54 12-08-2008, 01:17 PM i have them on my alabaster silver 09' coupe and they look fine, and protect the car very well
Bowzer 12-08-2008, 07:05 PM Just add a deluxe set of curb scrapers with them and you're all set! :lmao:
(I've always had and appreciated them on every vehicle.)
AznX TL 12-08-2008, 07:34 PM i don't care for the looks, but it keeps my car slightly cleaner.
Honda247 12-08-2008, 07:43 PM I have them on my Sedan and i like them. At first i wasn't sure, but after my wife ran over freshly paved road with my 6th gen accord, i decided to get them.........
BTW
PMM is the best color........
upcominZ 01-05-2009, 07:11 AM whats the best place to get them for an 03? hondapartsdeals?

You can take a look at magauto.com, they offer free shipping for orders over $30.
ChickenCoupe09 02-02-2009, 06:45 AM Anyone have pictures of their painted splash guards? I'd love to see (especially in PMM color).
Chaos0550 02-02-2009, 09:54 AM I purchased and installed mine shortly after I purchased the car. This is my first winter with them on and man I'm glad I have them. IMO, you can't go wrong.... unless you plan on putting on a body kit.
GeoLogic 02-02-2009, 10:44 AM For splash guards, I'd recommend aftermarket units. There's nothing special about "official Honda" splash guards except for shoveling out more $$... for several pieces of simple molded plastic.
I bought aftermarket guards for my 7th Generation two years ago, and they look identical to OEM, were just as easy to install, and they've performed exactly the same as anything I could have bought from Honda. And I probably saved 40 bucks or so.
I bought the official Honda fog light kit and rear wing spoiler, but for splash guards? Why would I pay more than I have to for something like that?
Brian09accord 02-18-2009, 05:03 PM where should I get my splash guards from then?? thank you
TSaysanasong 02-20-2009, 04:32 AM Whoa, I must be the odd man out for sure. Mines came with splash guards but I took them off a few days after I purchased my Accord. Its just not my cup of tea.

I am with you...I actually forced the dealer to take them off...
They may be functional but they take away from the look of the car...
There is a reason Honda intentionally doesn't show them on any of their glam shots...
I actually prefer how Nissan and Infiniti are now integrating the splash guards on their models...

Wait till you see tons of rock chips, tar and road grime caked on your lower panels.............then
Iguana 02-20-2009, 06:18 PM Well, I went ahead an put them on my coupe after seeing them on a PMM sedan at work. They blend in well with the color and are barely noticeable. We've had quite a bit of rain lateley, and I like NOT seeing all that crud stuck on the rear fenders.
