Does anyone know of any good pulley sets? How much HP do you think they will add?
Thankz

Pulleys probably free up 5-10HP. Many times though, they replace the alternator pulley, which is not a good idea on our cars. We don't have enough electrical power as is, using an underdrive pulley puts it over the top. Lots of people have had trouble with them, but certain models are okay. Check UR, AEM, those are the common ones for the 6th gen.

I'll agree. I'm coming over from the mustang camp and although the pulleys definitely add HP, if you plan on running ac or any type of performance stereo equip pulleys are not a good idea.

I have the AEM Tru Power Pulley kit on my '01 LX (Click here... (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4188)).
Unorthodox Racing, I believe, makes one for the Accord's. At the time, AEM was the only one that actually had them in stock for my engine (ULEV).
Originally I had planned to swap out the stock exhaust header with a DC Sport but aside from the weight saving I didn't think I would see any actual engine performance - of if I did it would be very subtle.
So I decided to try and lessen the load on the engine so I went with the pulley kit. I figured that if it didn't yield any noticable performance gains, I'd just put it up on eBay :D
I did notice a gain in performance by way of throttle response (it wasn't monumental or epic, but it was there...), my charging system performed as normal (even at idle), my light did dim slightly at idle (and I mean really slightly) but even at idle with very slightly dimmed lights, power windows and all the rest of the electrical system (i.e. radio, DVD system, etc...) all worked fine including the AC. Power steering was also not effected.
Another thing I noticed right away was that I could have the AC and headlights on and still climb hills as if they were off.
I should also mention that one of the things I did when I was doing the audio/video system in this car was that I added new and larger grounds which helps with the electrical system overall (not that I had a problem before...). So that might also help with the lights and such when at idle.
Installation is very straight forward. The alternator bolt gave me the most problems. I basically had to place it in my vice and hit it with the impact gun to zap the nut off.
The stock pulleys (power steering and alternator) are made of steel and the AEM kit is aluminum so there's a few more pounds that are shed.
I'm not sure how much HP gains there was - I never put this car on the dyno before I did it, but if I had to guess, I'd say about 5 HP gain (and that's on the generous side...).
Bottom line, I believe it's worth it. I wouldn't consider it to be high on my "Performance To-Do" list. I had it towards the bottom but it was still on said list...

I have it in my previous car, 3000GT (NA, auto). I think it is one of the best worth-the-money mod especially for auto tranny.
HOWEVER, if u r running a big sound system, AC always on, etc... better avoid it. I notice that there is a significant drop in voltage (~0.5) after I install it. Will I do it again in my AV6? Nah...
