So my fogs are officially installed (by a third party place that is) and well after 4hr install my upper display that shows the heat/ac temps, clock, etc. is off when the lights go on, but comes on when the lights are off ... WTF??

As well as that the interior illumination lights are out too! :thumbsdow
I noticed on the diagram that there is a wire area that has to do with the interior lights (button lights, map light etc) but i am stumped and have to wait until Monday to take the car back to see what the hell is up ...

Fogs and lights work but and this maybe an issue or not the way it was run (as per oem instructions) the fogs can be put on with the parkers only as well as with the headlights, could this be part of the problem? ( i never asked them to do this, but the way it was installed..

sounds like someone disconnected a plug above the fusepanel!

I am assuming you mean the panel in the floor area by the pedals, if so is this an easy thing to spot, i am no wiring/electrical expert but something seems backwards ...

Everything else works fine, just no interior button/map lights, and no upper display when lights are turned to on in every form ... (when i turn lights off screen appears) but dunno if interior lights work since they only go on when lights are turned on ... :dunno:

You sure the interior Illumination knob isn't turned all the way down? The one on the speedo. That's what it sounds like to me.

I wish it was that knob, I would have to be on crack to miss that one, but nope that's why this is so weird to me, its like something was hooked backwards because it only works when the lights are off .... Guess the whole plug and play theory with oem isn't that easy after all, thank god i didn't do it

I just wish someone who had them installed or installed them thereselves knew the wiring diagram and could pinpoint the problem ...

If these were hooked up as per oem instructions (wiring and all) but were wired so that i could use them anytime (low beams and fogs & parkers and fogs) where do i go from there? What could be run wrong for the interior illumination to be off, and the upper display to only come on when the lights are off?

Have you inspected the fuses?

All fuses double and triple checked and nothing is out of the ordinary ...:dunno:
Will update after tomorrow when hopefully i get the thing fixed ... I just can't imagine what it could be at this point, unless its a missing wire that fell out or plug somewhere .

As I mentioned early if you look at the instructions and check out the wiring diagram there is a wire area that has to do with interior illumination that looks as if it runs into the switch areas, but how would that be connect to my upper display not staying on when the lights go on :dunno:

Update: Just as a follow up went back to the shop to have it looked at/fixed ..

After initially taking apart the entire wiring process to find out that didn't help
the guy went through every wire with the fuse checker, took out every panel in the dash just about and finally found the cause....

Seems as if the factory plug under the dash which connects right to the fog light wire harness plug had a bad ground which disrupted my interior illumination/smaller upper radio display ... took about 2.5hrs to find this out

He fixed the broken ground, relayed everything for protection and now it is in working order again (interior lights & radio display) thank god ... :paranoid:

Good to hear. Got to love them grounds. Will get you everytime. Glad you got it fixed. Now enjoy them there fogs.

i hate customers that say "i KNOW it's a bad ground" when something is working in their car....it's funny when that's the problem i have sometimes w/ stuff in MY car lol
