On an 8th gen' Accord coupe, I *personally* wouldn't do it.

You do realize that the JDM Inspire is equivalent to the USDM Accord, right? There is no JDM Inspire equivalent of the USDM Accord coupe!

On an 8th gen' Accord sedan, I *personally* would consider doing it if there are other cosmetic changes which are similar to the JDM Inspire (ie. chrome trim/molding on the front grille, painted splash-guards, Inspire trunk lower-garnish & L/R taillight reflectors, trunk-lid lip-spoiler, etc').

If you really want to change the look of the rear emblem/badge, just paint them black or dark gun-metal. . .

That "should" belong only on sedans w/ JDM Inspire parts as Osiris have stated.

I dont see a problem as long as its the sedan... it is, for the most part, the same car

I'd do it only if it was sedan AND you had EVERY inspire part on the vehicle. If not, you're just posing and that's considered rice by many. I don't think it will look bad though. It's just an emblem, but I would expect a lot of backlash for it.

not on the coupe.

My poppa always told me, "don't be something you're not". Hmm, I think I'll apply that logic, to my car as well.

You should be taking badges off the coupe, not putting new ones on ;)

I wouldn't do it, but it's ultimately your decision. Don't think it can be any worse than this

namegoeswhere just posted a pic of my former ride, the Honda 745Li. Please, no flames.

I don't think the idea is worse, but my college friends have called the BMW-Honda idea "creative." My dealership loved that car too!

Again, to each his own.

sylv, I was actually thinking of upgrading to a 760Li badge there, but I ended up listening to my head rather than my heart.

kopimon, I don't have the BMW emblems on the car anymore. It was my decision to remove them.

I still have the "Open Road BMW" license plate frame though. I think my fellow forum members will give me a pass on that.

^ why the BMW emblems/badges in the past? Just curious. . .

The idea originated with my first car, a white Mercury Topaz. I was really OCD about that Topaz, waxing it every week when all it needed was a wash. Over the years, I eventually polished the paint right off the car too, especially the front fenders and hood, as the primer was faintly showing near the hood creases. My dad, who owned a BMW, once asked me, referring to my car and comparing it to his, how I could be satisified on so little. I was a little pissed at that remark, but in not giving up any measure of pride, I noticed the Mercury wheel emblems were the exact same size as a BMW roundel. So when the wheel caps needed to be repainted, I put the idea to action and rebadged the Mercury into a BMW 330Ci. Even had the M badge on the other side of the trunklid too.

I wanted my new car, the Accord, to have a similar transformation, but wanted it to be more tasteful and relatively low-key compared to the Topaz. So I kept the M badge off the Accord and went with the 745Li emblem, the highest number at the time. I originally wanted the 645Ci emblem but the BMW parts guy said the model was too new and I would have needed to wait 6 months, so I went with 745Li.

O.k., thanks for the background on your 'condition'! :naughty:

I see there is a 'history' of it, past episodes! I'm still wondering, why-why-why?!? :D

I can kinda/sorta/possibly understand swapping out for Acura emblems/badges or other Honda models/products (ie. vehicles, motorcycles, lawnmowers, generators etc'), but to do so w/ a totally different/irrelevant make/model?!? Or even if then, at least w/ some badges/emblems of relevance. 745Li designates a 7-series (full-size vs. Accord/mid-size), L ~ long-wheelbase, 45i ~ 4.5L gasoline-injected V8 32valve engine. If you were after class/esteem/identity, BMW had the M1 & Z8 which were in a whole different league than the 7-series. . .

But, at the end of the day: your car, your money - your desires... right?

Different strokes for different folks!

I agree with you, Osiris! Different strokes for different folks.

When I originally rebadged the car, I wanted the car to be a little bit different than the usual Accords out there. I did not want fancy wheels, tinted windows, different heads or tails, chrome pillars, wings or spoilers, or even the OEM body kit. I wanted something that was low-key and different but also uniquely mine.

Even the owner of the upscale NJ body shop who implemented my rebadging idea thought that, "Anyone can rebadge a car but only Dr. Paul can get away with it!" When I pulled into his shop at a later date to get my car washed, he admitted that he was standing in the lobby talking with a customer, quickly glanced out the window to see me pulling into the spot across from the lobby, and thought the car was actually a BMW for a moment! On another occasion, there was a father driving an older model 533i in good condition (with his two kids in the back seat) who apparently followed me for some time, finally pulled up next to me at a red light, and admitted trying to get my attention for 20 miles to ask me if my car was the upcoming redesigned 745Li (and he was very interested in my car). Then, two Christmas Eves ago, I stopped on the side of a highway when a young NJ State Trooper pulled up behind me, lights flashing. I was so nervous and thought I was in trouble. He walked up to the passenger-side window, curious as to why I stopped, as he thought I might have needed assistance stopping on the shoulder of a major highway. Before we parted ways, I asked the trooper a simple question: what kind of a car am I driving? The trooper walks to the back of the car, looks at the trunklid and the wheels and the steering wheel as he bends over to look through the passenger-side window, and says, "You have a nice BMW." I responded with a big smile and said, "Thank you, but I've got to tell you that this car is not a BMW! It's a Honda Accord, and I rebadged the entire car to get other drivers smiling." He mouth dropped open as he was laughing so hard at that point, I was laughing with him too, and we parted ways on super good terms! It must have been a nice stop for him and for me too!

So those are just three of many memorable stories that I have when I was driving my former ride, the 745Li. I miss that car!!

I don't think a Dodge Viper would get more attention. Been there, done that too.

funny thing though, despite the fact that it's so wrong, it doesn't look half as ridiculous as most mods that people do that don't make any sense.

hahaha Nice pic, Osiris!

Maybe in the future, I'll rebadge it again, this time as a 765Li.

All I know is that, if I actually buy a BMW, I'll quickly rebadge it into a Honda. :D

Corny and thats beyond being RICE. If you wanted a BMW go buy one. That just comes off like... fake jewelry...lol. As far as accord coupe and inspire, realize there is NO coupe in Japan. The Inspire is only a 4dr. Save your money on other things that are appropriate to our coupes. Unless you wanna be just asking for Rice Tickets on your windshield..lol.
