Quick question..almost feel stupid asking, but I figured I should before I possibly do something stupid. Is there anything I should know about degreasing my engine?? I finally got sick of looking at a dirty engine/engine compartment and want to either clean it out with a garden hose and some degreaser, or take it to a car wash and use the pressure washer. I'm guessing spraying chemicals and water on engine wires/connections may not be the best thing to do?? Any chemicals I should/should not use?? Should I cover anything up, etc?? Thanks for any insight.

Just dont do it with the engine hot, or even worm. Dont use any thing too strong, cleaner wise...

if u didn't loook at that thread, in short
jus wait til ur engine is cool and haven't been driven the whole day. open up the hood, spray some simple green. cover the alternator and battery and go to town. if ur using pressure washer, dont spray directly at anything of course.

if u want to clean battery, use brush with baking soda mixed with water.

Awesome, thanks for all the help...seems I'm not the only one to think about this huh?? Has anyone that has done this got any water in the inside of the car from spraying against the back of the engine bay where all the wires go into the dash??

Hey, don't forget to cover the distributor man:D. Just kidding; remember those days??

If you use a pressure washer, just DO NOT use the high pressure setting; no need to. Let the cleaners do the work, and just use water to wash the crap down. Oh, and CLEAN THE BATTERY FIRST!!! You want that crap neutralized before hosing down the engine.

And next time clean your engine regularly so you don't have to do this man:yes:. I've never had to wash my engines, and doesn't take more than a minute to wipe things clean every once in a while. Later.
