My 94 accord has trouble starting after it has been sitting for a week or so. After trying to crank it over several times the D4 flashes on the gear indicator, then it will not turn over?
Once the tow truck shows up I try to start it and it does!! This happened several times over the summer.
Did anyone else ever have this trouble?
Great info on this site by the way!!

This sounds like a symptom of a bad battery. It also sounds like you may have some transmission problems in your future.
How old is your battery? You ought to have it tested, along with a test of how the rest of the charging system is working. Most places that sell batteries don't charge for this.
Once that's squared away keep an eye out for that flashing D4 light, when starting an while driving. Not good at all. If it keeps it up, it has a malfunction code stored, and you'll need to get a shop to diagnose it, since you have an older car with less up to date electronic on board diagnostics (OBDI).

Yes, the battery is old & it will be replaced soon.
Is it normal for the transmission to be rough when shifting? very chunky going through the gears. Would changing my transmission fluid resolve this issue? The D4 only flashed when the car would not start, never since.

I will say that the transmission in these cars is not the smoothest... but it shouldn't be THAT bad. The transmission fluid is to be changed at 30,000 mile intervals (you'll need to convert that ;) ), and it should only be changed with Honda Transmission Fluid, which you can get at a Honda dealer.
Using any other kind of fluid can make the shift harsh and cause premature wear to the unit.

Low voltage....will often cause warning lights to come on too.

Oh that's true! In 2004 the battery in the 96 Accord finally died (8 years! ) and everything was coming on, check engine, SRS, alt light, etc.
Start with the battery, go from there.
