I had Circuit City install KS69 (6" x 9") rear speakers and KS6.2 (6" component speakers) in the front for $350 including installation. It took them nearly five hours to complete the install but they sound FANTASTIC. Although the stock EX speakers are better than most OEM speakers, the Kickers are vastly superior for the kind of music I like (mostly jazz, occasional rock).

Where did they put the tweeters?

The tweeters were mounted in the same location as the stock tweeters. On the EX, these are located on the far upper corners of the dash near the A pillar.

Thanks, I had no idea they would fit.
Did they scratch any panels?

Fortunately, nothing was damaged or scratched during the install. I must admit, I was a little concerned when I looked in the installation bay to see so many pieces 'n parts of my car scattered all over the place. Somehow, it all came back together just like new!

i tried installing plain speakers and it just sucked since their wasnt enought power output to power them.

Yes, I used the stock head unit and Circuit City did install crossovers for the front component speakers. For me, an amp wasn't necessary since the vast majority of my listening is at lower volume levels (under "25" on the volume scale) and I was looking for good sound in the mid-range. I think the range of the frequency response for the Kickers works well with the stock head unit and my listening preferences.

Rodgers330 - So do you feel it was a big difference over the stock speakers? Is there as much bass as the stock system?
How are the component tweets in the stock position?

Yes, there's a VERY noticable positive improvement in sound- across all ranges. The bass is certainly much better and there's absolutley no distortion whatsoever at any volume level (that might not be the case with an amp installed). The component tweeters seem to work well in the stock position.
In my humble opinion, it's a great low cost investment which delivers instant results. I'm sure a new head unit, amp, sub, etc would be far better but that would be a substantially greater cost.

Man! Tell me how you pulled that off! The speakers alone are $350! I am indeed interested...

According to the Circuity City salesperson, Kickers are a new line for their store so the manager is running a free installation promotion during April. This was at the Northpoint Mall store in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Rodgers330 - Do you know where they mounted the crossovers for the front speakers? I am looking at doing this myself and wondered where they mounted the crossovers. I am looking at the Kickers, Polk Audio DB series or the Alpine Type Rs.
Thanks.

Agile, sorry I can't help you. I was kind of wondering that myself because I did see them in the process of doing the wiring. I suppose the inside of the door would allow more space than under a crowded dash. Good luck and let us know how your installation goes. Many years ago I did dozens of installations for myself and my buddies because I wanted everything done perfectly. Now I'm too old, too fat and too impatient.
