Had a new set of shoes installed this weekend... Time to get the snows off with temps in the 70's.
Went with Kelly-Springfield Charger HR Asym. Lets see how many miles I can get out of these?

That is an unusual (asymmetrical) tread - did you make sure they were all installed in the right direction?
Any idea what the logic is behind the tread design? :dunno:

Yes there on the correct way, outer 1/3 performance cornering mid 1/3 quiet/touring tread inner 1/3 all season tread..
With the 150 miles today I noticed very good cornering capabilities, extremely quiet and smooth ride. We will see if those characteristics diminish after 5-10k. When the rains come will see how they do wet.

Well wet handling is excellent !! I do notice more suspension roll after taking the snows off..but that may also be affected by wear on shocks/struts with almost 100k on ODO
Overall very pleased... but time will tell :)

Regarding the mileage, sounds like it's strut & allignment time.

Keep me posted on how those tires hold up in terms of noise and wear! I'm looking for a set of really quiet tires and I'm sick of my Michelins already - no grip wet or dry, just tons of road noise. Only thing it has over my old $65/ea. Yoks is that it has marginally better ride quality - noticed only by me and no one else, and they're actually round...Yoks had blistered tread but still had more grip. :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

I actually let them align the car.. After they were done I asked for the spec sheet.. the toe was out of spec on the right front .45deg , thats probably from blasting a curb a couple times but everything else was withen spec...
not bad for 98K without ever being touched!!
I am a firm believer in leave it alone unless there is a problem..
Struts...if they get noisey I might do something but for now they will work fine.. I will probably only have the car for 2 more years then the next owner can worry about that... at Around 200k

At the 7K mark I have even wear and have only worn off 3/64" of tread ...
No changes as far as noise or handling

Kelly's went bye-bye with 40K on them and 2 of them being replaced due to road hazards. One had a bolt in sidewall and the other had been plugged 3 times. So 5 bucks per tire with my warranty to replace them. They had 6-7/32 tread remaining and were in good condition. But ..... I had to try out the new Toyo Versado's. Wow!! big difference as far as noise. The Versado is a very quite tire. Turn in is incredible and wet traction is very good.
Some may wonder why replace tires with that much tread on them ? I am back on the road again with my business and the price was right. $ 252 for 4 tires - self installed.

Cool. I have a cousin that owns a general repair shop where I used to live. It was a great place to do my work and learn a lot.
