Hey there,
I'd like to have another keyless-entry key made. Do I have to go through my local Honda dealer and pay through the nose, or can I go somewhere else to have the keyless-entry key made?
Oops. one more thing. I just bought my automatic 05 Accord and noticed when driving at night that the letters "P," "N," "D," etc. don't light where the shifter is only on the dash between the speedo and tach. Is this normal, or do I have a light that needs replacing on the shifting console?
Thanks!
Michael

Not sure about the key. But about the PNand D, you can just replac the bulb in the dash. You can only get this at the dealer, i think. I had the same situation with my integra and my 2002 Accord. I could not find the bulb anywhere but the dealer. I think they were abiut $5 easch.

The gear position showing only on the dash is in fact normal. Just a penny-saving thing with Honda.

Locksmiths can program an extra key for you for a lot less.

Call the dealer, then call a locksmith. Locksmith should be cheaper, but make sure their work is guaranteed. It's pretty easy to cut and program the key. The trick is to get the immobilizer chip to work.
About the lights, I was told by the salesperson that it was actually a safety feature. Supposed to keep your eyes up, closer to the road. But I think it was just a cost-cutting technique, as mentioned by Kelsen. Regardless, it's "by design" and there is nothing wrong with your car.

the "trick"? getting the immobilizer to work IS the programming of the key.

What I meant by programming the key was getting the remote locking, trunk, etc. The immobilizer chip requires separate programming, using a computer that hooks up to the car.
