I'm a little over 5k miles right now and have 40% oil life and am about to get the first service this Friday. I was wondering whether I should take it to the dealership so they can use whatever type of oil they use...or should I take it somewhere else and use some synthetic type of oil like Mobil-1. I don't know too much on what type of oil to use when getting an oil change so comments and opinions will be much appreciated.

If you take it to the dealer they will tell you to wait until your MM says 15%. This is what is recogmended by Honda for the first oil change because the factory oil has additives for engine break in. If you want to take it to the dealer you can get them to put Mobil 1 in, thats what I did. But you can get your oil changed at the dealer or any other place you want to. Hope this helps.

btw i searched and it seems like everyone was posting up what they used for their v6, didnt know if it would be different for the i4
