RTexasF 11-20-2008, 06:07 PM Superb report and 1 3/4 quarts top off is quite good for 10K. I'll guess you'll add 3 qts or more of 5W20 EP by 15K although I hope it's less. Thanks for sharing Buster, the 2.4l is an exceptional engine......glad I also have one! Still using M1 0W20 SL in mine, no consumption since break in but I only have 32,600 on the clock and change annually. SatinSilver 11-21-2008, 08:55 AM Don't forget to change out the PCV valve. Fredsvt recommended going oem versus the cheap ones at the local autoparts store(thin cheap spring). www.collegehillshonda.com or Bernardi Honda has decent prices. buster 11-21-2008, 03:27 PM Thanks. I've changed the pcv, plugs and coolant. Someone mentioned that I should change the o2 sensor. ?? edwilson13185 11-21-2008, 04:34 PM Still using M1 0W20 SL in mine, no consumption since break in but I only have 32,600 on the clock and change annually. Agreed that it's overall a very well-designed engine. I've used Mobil 1 5W-20 (0W-20 when I can find it) since day one. I've got 98k on the clock and I've never had to add oil with 10k OCIs. Hopefully your experience with it will be as good as mine as you rack up the miles. RTexasF 11-21-2008, 04:59 PM Thanks. I've changed the pcv, plugs and coolant. Someone mentioned that I should change the o2 sensor. ?? That makes VERY good sense buster, especially with they way you drive and the mileage. buster 11-21-2008, 06:01 PM Thanks RT, I'll have to look into that. The Critic 11-22-2008, 07:55 PM I think there's a way to test the O2 sensor. Perhaps Princess could help. The upstream O2 sensor is $160 from Bosch. It's too expensive to just replace without verifying that the old one is truly bad. psyshack 11-25-2008, 11:17 AM Same here. 10k mile OCI. M1 0w-20 or 5w-20 with name brand filter. Either M1, PrueOne or Wix. The only time the oil was down a tad was when I let it go 15k miles once. Even then it was not down enough to warrant top off. |
