I advise all of you to stay away from this shop. They installed my pulley and because it was installed the wrong way, it broke my alternator as well as the alternator pulley.

I had to pay for the alternator and they basically made $750 with me having no gains out of this.

I believe they purposely installed it wrong that way I'd be back again so they could take more money from me. I am going to the shop tomorrow to see if I can recover some money after finding out it was not the brand of pulley, but because of how they installed it.

A great shop that should still be around is Japanese Buggy Works. It was 20 years ago when I used him all the time but he always did me right. Should be in Gulfport on Pass Road.

i went up to the shop this morning to confront the owner/manager. I came in a calmly matter with 3 friends for witness purposes.

I told the tech I spoke with Ralco (I told him the day before, i was getting a refund) and they asked questions about the installation. First, i asked the tech what he did. He said he did not "grease" it or coated it with anti-seige so he basically admitted it.

second, i asked what he torqued it to and he said factory specs. according to u guys, it's suppose to be higher right? that's what i told him. He didn't screw it on enough which is why the alternator pulley got lose and that's probably what the rattling noise was so when it got lose, it "grinded" against the alternator.

After he admitted the installation was done wrong, he then blamed me for not providing the instructions. I remembered clearly that i had given him the box of pulleys w/instruction. When he was looking at my car the first time, he took the instructions out to look at, then he looked at them and put them back in the box. I took the box and had it set in the passenger seat.

If i did take the manual why would i do it? i woud jus be wasting my time and his time. But anyway, after that was said, i asked him if i didn't give him the instructions, why didn't he call me or notify me. he got quiet and He replied a pulley is all plug and play so the instructions were not required. ok so u can't make up ur mind whether the lack of instructions were my fault or not. ok.

he would not cooperate. i threatened to take it to court, but i indirectly told him. i also told him i would post this case all over the internet forums and tell the people of Gulfport so they know what this shop has to offer in terms of crappy service. he basically told me to go to town so i'm assuming he thinks i'm bluffing. well looks like he's gonna have something to be thankful for on thanksgiving bc he's gettin what's comin to him.

if u guys don't know whats goin on, the shop basically installed my pulleys wrong and blamed the pulleys for the damages but the damages were really caused by the shop not installing properly. i'm demanding a refund bc i should not have to pay for something that was their fault. it's bs.

long story short, this is going to court.

Here are the pics. see for urself and judge. as u can see, the alternator pulley isn't even coated. the brown part in the center is caused by the grinding and wobbling from the shop not torquing it the right way.

i agree with u 200%. this week i'm going to court to file a suit. hopefully i'll win this case. the owner of japtec is so full of it i wanted to punch him in his face so bad. overall, very UNPROFESSIONAL job as a shop and as a person to argue with.
