In the picture I attached, do I have this right?
The car has a total capacity for 5.3 quarts of oil?
If I change the filter at the same time as the oil, I add 4.5 quarts?
If I leave the filter alone, I only add 4.2 quarts?
There are 0.3 quarts of oil in the filter and 0.8 quarts in the engine?
So should 5 quarts cover a change or should I be safe and get 6?

Yes, six is a good number though you will only need 5... whats more interesting is that the Canadian and US windshield reservoirs are vastly different!!!

USDM weight-savings of ~3-4lbs, FTW! :D

When I lived in CO....I sure wished I had the Candadian capacity!

basically, you cannot drain out all the engine oil in the crankcase (maybe due to the shape of it). Similar idea on the transmission fluid change. Also, Remember that never overfill engine oil; the seals might be damage if overfilled.

Only needs 4.5 quarts. Change the filter, you'd be stupid not to considering how easy it is to get to on the V6 and how cheap and TINY that daggum thing is.

Well I won't be doing it myself.. I'm pretty useless with mechanical-related things like changing oil .. so I'll hit up Walmart for some Mobil1 synthetic oil and filter and let the dealer change it
I'll also get a tire rotation and MT oil change while I'm at it and be set till Spring

When I lived in CO....I sure wished I had the Candadian capacity!I wish I had it here in the Midwest. Anyplace that has winter should have a large capacity fluid reservoir! I have been very tempted to buy the Canadian version, but I'm worried about it having an extra hole for the level sensor...
