It was actually nice here last Sunday. For about 2 hours it actually felt like spring like the way it supposed to be so I went out to take some pics of my dog and some nice profile shots of my car. My car hasn't been cleaned in a week so it might be a little dusty.

Here's my dog and this is namo: B-I-N-G-O-!.......

Close-up of the V6 emblem. At least that's still clean

Semi-clean engine. That's about as clean as it's going to get.

Here's the chip on the ol' block.. or hood :(

Here's another picture of where the chip is. This one's taken today and it's was drizzly out. Look on the hood near the "H".

Last one taken today. Very noticable even from this distance!

Hopefully the weather will be nice for tomorrow so I can touch it up then try out my Langka kit on it.

Put a hood deflector on it! Use a black tinted one, it'll hide it realll well :D

That must have been a BIG rock... looks like about a 1/2" ding as well as the chip.....BUMMER :thumbsdow
On one that size I would have a ding dude work the metal 1st and flake off any loose paint before touching up!!! Clear bra would not have saved you that size of ding and possibly not even saved the paint cracking from that hard of an impact.
Pick up some 1000 or 1500 wet paper and cut out a piece the size of a pencil eraser(I use a rotary hole punch) glue to the eraser and clean the rust up before painting.

I got no idea how big that rock was. From the looks of the ding, it wasn't that big, but it hit so hard that it blistered the paint around it. I'm definately going to try to get rid of the rust first. Thanks for the idea of gluing the sandpaper on the pencil eraser. I got to try that tomorrow when it's dryer outside. Do you think 400 grit sandpaper is too coarse? I still got to take off some more paint from the top of the paint chip.

For a hit like this one, I don't think a clearbra would've helped. It'll probably still blister the paint, but I wouldn't know about it until it's time to take off the clearbra.

I'm sorry, but I think hood deflectors are ghey! I like the clean look. Clear hood deflectors are better, but I still don't like that idea.

400 might be a little coarse, you can probably pull it off if you can stay on the bare metal. 1000 and up will leave scratches that can be removed with compound fairly easy if you hit the paint.

hmm always thought that 8mm clear bra film would have prevented that from happening. that 3m film looks pretty damn tough from what ive seen of it.

hehe get a cf hood :naughty:

oh yeah check this out bout the 3m clear bra

Interesting article !! Thanks OwAce

Two flaws I can see though...

I have run over 200k with vinyl black bra and have yet to have any paint damage or marring.. It's been left on for over 3 months with out removal, By the way my cars bra can be removed in less than 3 minutes and reinstalled in less than 5..
I think most people don't protect the surface before applying their bra and that can only lead to problems!!

I wish rocks and road debris were made of lead!! He needs to try that with a .177 BB!! I think the results would be different..

It still is a good product and anything to help protect is a +.

Interesting article, indeed. Just got to keep in mind that they shooting at a plastic mirror housing. If it was a metal hood, then it would've been a different story! I still agree that something is better than nothing, though.
